NAU did not enter two of their top female runners Stearns and Upshaw both returnees of last years team. like most teams top teams tend not to show all their cards this early in the season.

Stearns is still building up after a nagging injury, Smith forecasted her debut at pre-nats or regionals. they're playing it safe, they need her to have a great XC Championship day.
Rarely see women held out until late in season having a great NCAA XC. Just hard to build race fitness that quickly. At this point, there's not much separating NAU, NC State, ND, Washington, BYU. All of those teams - and possibly a couple others will be in hunt for title at NCAAs.
The University is downsizing that golf course due to new dorm construction. It will be cut down to an 'Executive' (short par 3 course). Plus some of the land is used for football parking. Sad because it was a nice college golf course, however cut backs in maintenance have become very evident over the past few years.

BYU missing a few I had expected to push for their top 5 in Riano, Farmer, and Hansen.
Same to assume at this point none of them will be in the mix this season?
The big question in the men's race is whether or not Washington State's Evans Kurui is for real, and how will he fare against Texas Tech's group of Kenyans, not to mention NAU and Notre Dame's top runners?
