Lagat was in a great position with 100m to go, looking very strong and just over El G.'s shoulder....but then he looked behind, presumeably worrying about those runners.
I like Lagat, but that small time-frame spoke volumes to me. Either he doesn't have the 'killer' instinct in him, or his confidence for beating El G. is not there. It's easy to say when I'm just watching, but he looked strong enough to make it a close finish.
Props to El G., but I am tired of the 'intangibles' of his races being handed to him. In other words, put Paul McMullen's attitude in some of these fast runners and let them really go after El G., instead of just following him.
Remember, the race was not THAT fast. He should not have won quite that easily.
