Not one East African does this nonsense. So all of you hobby joggers and top Americans (aka sub-elites on the world stage) just stop it. Enough already.

It’s actually very similar to what the East Africans do, its just that its structured in a way where the threshold work is cut into reps rather than just a continuous long run. Read up on Marius Bakken’s writings to see this
The best distance runner ever outside of the undetectable EPO era does it (actual competitive distance runner, not marathon). Good enough for me.
It's not similar to what the vast majority of East Africans do.The main idea with double thresholds to cover more total mileage at threshold. As we know most great runners in history didn't do double thresholds and it worked great.
Well, and good to know not even the Ingebrigtsens do double thresholds all the time and mainly during their buildup phase.
Cause you want me, a clean athlete to mimic the training of one of the countries with the most doping bust in distance running? Meanwhile the only runner from Norway who I can recall popping on a doping test was some pro mountain runner.

One thing to keep in mind is what else do you do during the day?
Yakob and his training partners do nothing else- run rest, gym work, rest, run rest and eat a ton of food.
How many people trying this run, go to work, run, do some gym work, get some sleep, etc?
Canova does though not a frequently thats for sure. I mean I'm not doing it but if you already maxed out traditional training and your improvement has stopped maybe its something to try. If you have the time and I would say a higher mileage guy. If you have been doing one workout of 6 miles of threshold and not your breaking it up into two 4 mile sessions now you have 2 more miles of work. Why not try it? If you work and don't really have time maybe doing it once a week on the weekends.
I think a lot of people misinterpret it and probably end up doing too much right at their actual lactate threshold pace, but the idea of using lactate to determine paces and recovery during workouts is sensible. The "double" part is also probably not important for a lot of people. Yeah, you can do 2 workouts in 1 day if you make them pretty manageable - how many people are at a point in training where they need to suddenly start doing that twice per week to make progress?
