I'm talking guaranteed death penalty. Or perhaps a crime that you would easily get 50 to 60 years in prison? Let's say you're 40 or 50 years old. Would you face the music or run?
I don't think they'd give me a chance to turn myself in for a death penalty level crime. I think they'd just show up and arrest me before I knew that I was "wanted." I'm not that hard to track down, so it's not like they'd be putting up Wanted posters around town. They'd just come to my house or job and take me.
even a long prison term ends up doing far more damage than most crimes. You'd have to be a very successful serial killer.
Besides just you being punished (robbed, beaten, driven nuts, killed, buggered etc) there's all the things you might do (rob, beat, drive nuts, kill, bugger) to other prisoners. Many of whom aren't there for anything so serious, or are even wrongly convicted.
Besides that, you'll be accepting permanent exclusion from society, but the idea that you're "paying a debt" is hogwash - the truth is nobody really cares what happens to you, unless it gets hyped up on TV somehow. So effectively it's exile either way.
The ancient Norse and many other enlightened societies understood this, and they would kick their murderers out of the country.

Better to turn yourself in ASAP and hope for some mercy. The chance of getting away with such a bad crime, especially murder, is very low nowadays. Too many cameras and technology to easily catch criminals. You will more likely die in prison if you try to run
Thane Eugene Cesar ran, ran away to a country with no extradition to U.S.
Roman Polanski ran, ran away to France. I guess Roman P had citizenship in France prior to raping a teenager girl. French government will not, or at least French government will not extradite one of their citizens for teenage rape in this case.
If you are merely a suspect, one of many, that's one thing. If you are the only suspect, that's another thing.

Eugene Cesar was a long time ago. Remember what happened to P Diddy a few weeks ago when he tried to flee? They caught him at the airport.

I have never met Sean Combs but I know people who attended his house parties, Washington, D.C. S Combs is a bad example. People in the know say he has gotten away with multiple murders. It hasn't gone so badly yet for S Combs. Either he threw his drug mule under the bus or S Combs' drug mule is the most unluckiest fella on earth. S Combs has video tapes on everyone in power. Maybe S Combs doesn't need to run?
Idiotic question. What’s the reason to not run if the alternative is guaranteed death or life in prison?

Looks like you can’t read. OP’s premise was guaranteed death or life in prison.

Turn yourself in, 99% chance you get caught anyway
