Whewwww that is pretty good, I thought she had phoned it in after her WR.
Looks like Bobby Kerse is keeping her fit. Gonna be a good match up between SML and Bol
I love Femke and she's a great talent. But let's just be honest here: SML on her A-game is completely untouchable. 12.74/22.38 in May? She might be knocking on sub-50 over hurdles - I'm dead serious.
Yes! And Sydney has now run 3 races this early in the outdoor season. Now that the haters can’t complain about her not racing, I wonder what they’ll criticize her for. Oh, I know: did she smile enough?
They are just trolls. More often than not, I just ignore them.

I would indeed like to see her run sub 50 in the 400MH. That's what I am holding out for.
Wow. That kind of puts SCRs last race of 23.11 in perspective, even with the tail wind.
Well Sha'carri ain't no 200M runner. I have said several times that she is too short and her boobs are too big for the distance. Shericka and Gabby are almost a foot taller than her and the difference in heights help to explain the difference in performances.
If you look closely at Sha'carri's 200M, she begins to thread water at 150M.
It's actually a mediocre time for her. It's only .01 faster than the 22.39 she ran as a college freshman back in 2018, when she also ran 50.07 in the 400 and 52.75 in the 400H.
Clearly Sydney won't be trying for a 400H world record at the Trials like she did at the 2021 Trials and the 2022 USA's.
Even being in world record shape by the Olympics will be difficult. But she still should be able to get into good enough shape by the Olympics to beat Bol in the 400H.
Her 22.38 also makes it unlikely that she will be trying the 400 / 400H double at the Olympics. 22.38 in May means she won't be fast enough to win gold at the Olympics, and I don't think that either Sydney or Bobby Kersee are interested in trying to run the 400 just to maybe get a bronze medal.
Oh well, that's what happens when you spend the winter on a book tour instead of training hard.
Did she announce this beforehand and did she randomly show up on the starting list and race?
Just like Sydney did in 2019 at this same meet, she convinced the meet director to leave her off the start list. I guess she figured that if she decided to back out at the last minute at least no one could give her flack if they didn't even know that she was entered.
I'm not a Sydney fan (that bible/pentecostal stuff is annoying and stupid as hell, and she isn't that relatable, for a black girl), but it's her Olympic gold that I'll be enjoying the most because of the many American racists here who have declared they'll be rooting for the Dutch runner over her.

Give me a break. It has nothing to do with racism. There are many people who like to see someone race frequently, rather than someone who races infrequently.
And there are many people who like to see someone who enjoys racing, rather than someone who admits she doesn't like it.

Okay, let's engage in a little thought experiment. If Jakob Ingebrigtsen turned into a Sydney today (didn't race much - and he's pretty selective about his races, fyi - and said he didn't enjoy racing), do you think the same comments would be made about him by that crowd. How many, if any, of Sydney's critics would say the stuff they've said about her?

It is practically the opening of her season. Consequently, if viewed from this perspective, it is by no means a mediocre time. There are 4 more months to go before the Olympics. Enough time for speed work to kick in to get her into world record shape for the 400MH - if she decides to run it. I do not expect a wr in the 400M, that is out of bounds for any cis- gendered female and non ped female, but I see no reason why she cannot cut some time off her current 400MH record. It is very much in the realm of possibility.

Not this year she won't. She is behind the shape she was in back in 2022, when she ended up running 50.68. No way she gets under 50 this year.
Now if she trains her butt off for the next 12 months, maybe she can get close to that time next year. But for sure sub 50 isn't happening this year.
Her body knows what it is to run 48 in the flat 400M. Her body knows what it is to run 50 in the 400MH. Sub 50 this year is not out of the realm of possibility.

That's not how it works. Athing Mu's body knew what it was like to win gold in the 800, but she got bronze last year.
You actually have to be in insanely great shape to smash a world record. It's not about what someone's body knows.

It certainly does play a factor. You only have to observe SAFP/ETH/Sha'carri and Shericka's performances to see this.
Mu was suffering from a bad breakup getting dumped by that midget and allegedly contracted COVID several times. In addition to muscle memory and training, mental acuity/sharpness also plays a factor in racing.

22.38 wind assisted, Bol ran 22.64 indoors and she is even known to be slower in shorter distances
