My spikes were torn last meet because of someone spiked me and I’m looking for some new ones before my varsity region competition in a few weeks. Has anyone tried the Nike Victory 2 Proto distance spikes? I’m thinking of getting some classic dragonfly’s where they are more known and reliable. But what’s your guy’s thoughts on the new Protos?
Given your varsity competition is coming up in a few weeks, it might be safer to go with the Nike Dragonfly. They are a reliable option that many distance runners swear by. If you are set on trying the cutting edge shoes, and are comfortable with a little risk, you could try the Victory 2 Proto. However, there's a chance they might not be the best fit, especially since they seem more geared towards mid-distance events.
They are achilles busters so unless your tendons are extremely healthy and your mechanics extremely good, not worth the risk. Even the pros wear them sparingly.
