Sometimes I think greatly talented athletes are actually handicapped in their ability to coach, because success came so easily to them and they cannot understand why their athletes are not as successful. This could relate to being able to handle massive training loads that their athletes can't handle, or conversely it could be that they were able to respond so robustly to training (sub 3:27 1500m on 60 mph).
Despite being coached for years by Coach Li, Lagat seems to not have mastered the craft of coaching.
As an aside, I think it's totally fair game for the University of Arizona triathlon ladies racing in cross country. Very similar to a football athletes doing sprints and jumps in spring track.. just a multisport athlete.
