A D1 college coach I was considering posted on his recruiting coach FB page that whoever votes Republican should unfriend him, among other idiotic things. Basically he won’t recruit kids that not jumping on his political view bandwagon. He was very weak and scammy to start with, but I feel this is not only immoral but should not be legal. Needless to say I would never work with a coach that gets political on the university paycheck. How do you guys feel about it ?
That’s definitely not ok, public employees in position of influence should refrain from political activism . Is he still employed there? I know for sure if he would have said the same thing the other way around he would have lost his job, but the socialism American experiment is saving his ass at the moment …
It is weird to have a presidential candidate who appears to have tried to prevent the peaceful transfer of power. Makes sense that people who like democracy are speaking up because it is at risk. Whereas some people would rather have a strong man in office, an autocrat. And be allies with Putin and make it harder to vote and have the government monitor women’s pregnancies and other things.
I do think any coaches that want to end democracy should be allowed to say so on Facebook. I wouldn’t go there, but hey, let them speak up.
Who cares? Don’t be like the libs. If you don’t like it and it hurts you that badly then do t go there. If you go there and he treats you poorly because of politics then say something. Stop being a baby. Grow up. Conservatives should not act like little beta boys.
Name the school if this is true. I spoke to few coaches before making my decision and was never asked once about my political beliefs. In fact, I am connected on social media with former college coach and I still don't know his political beliefs. Similarly when I am at work I don't discuss politics or religion with people visiting the office. It has nothing to do with my job.
I think the goal should be to not let others know your political affiliation unless you're having a political discussion on your own time. If you're the type of person where the way you act or the things you say let me know your political affiliation you're doing it wrong. And people who feel so strongly to generically strongly dislike someone on the 'other side' are pretty crap people and bigots. Neither side is perfect, neither side is completely terrible. If you draw a line in the sand and want to cut off everyone on the other side, you're the problem.
No, it’s not OK, regardless of the political viewpoint. Good coaches know this and that’s why this guy may not be worth your time. He’s either an idiot or your story is fake.
To the chucklehead above, that intolerance crap goes both ways.
He shouldn't. With that said, be glad he did. Pay close attention to which school you choose. In 2020 a Division I school supported and raised money to try and overthrow a certain political party. They actually posted support on their athletic pages to raise money for a political organization. Completely illegal because they receive government funding.
