Four months ago, I went on a 20 mile long run to wrap up a 90 mile week. This was very typical for me at the time.
The next day, my left leg was completely "dead" (I don't know how else to say it)...and it has not improved since. I know what normal training fatigue feels like, and this is far from it. This feels like my leg has a 20 pound weight attached to it, I can barely lift it off the ground, and I'm forced to stop after around 1-2 minutes of running. I cross-trained aggressively (elliptical) for 2.5 months, and when I wasn't feel any improvement, I took a full month off all exercise. I've been trying to return to running the past two weeks, but this dead leg feel persists. I have also developed an aggressive medial heel whip; this isn't as debilitating as the dead leg sensation, just really annoying.
I've been all over the giant loss of coordination thread. I've been to acupuncture, physio, osteopathy, a strength training coach, and massage therapy. I use a foam roller, lacrosse ball, TENS machine, and a massage gun regularly. I've had an MRI, ultrasounds, and an X-ray, and I have a referral for a neurologist. These things have all helped me feel better, but nothing is solving the problem and I still don't have any answers.
Yesterday during my research, I came across iliac artery endofibrosis and popliteal artery entrapment syndrome, and the symptoms sound very similar to mine. The only difference is that I think my "deadness" feels like it's more in the hip/glute/quad area, whereas I think IAE and PAES produce more symptoms in the calf? Anyone had this before, and think it might be worth me checking out? Thank you.
