This is a great run, but these set-up, two-finisher races at college meets shouldn’t count for qualifier or rankings purposes for pros.
Spring training stats don’t count in baseball, exhibition matches don’t count in tennis, and for-all-intents-and-purposes-practice-meets shouldn’t count in athletics.
you're right, but in track doesn't matter how you run a time you get the time.
The point is that it should. Or rather, where you run a time should—otherwise, we’re not a cohesive sport, just something where the best athletes compete once every four years and everything else is irrelevant.

Isn't the rule that there need to be at least 4 finishers for the race to count as a qualifier? Remember all of those BTC covid TTs where the people that paced were forced to jog it in to the finish for the race to count? How is this different? Honest question.
Still a terrific run by Teare. He's fit, but let's not call this a race.
