i'm going to underline what the poster said on immovable. i used to do hurdles and i ate it twice at the end of races (last hurdle) over the years. and those are designed to give. that steeple is like a balance beam out there that doesn't want to give. you tag that and you give. so you need to make your routine clearances or mount-dismount.
you need at least a little practice on hurdling (36" height) and some sort of technique sorted before the meet. full blown hurdle style, the legs tucked thing, on-off. that you can repeat for 8 laps and as the poster said, even when your legs are starting to go. and you need to be able to do on-off for several water jump lamps if they have a pond.
if you can help it find a steeple. if not, at least do some multi-lap low-hurdling.
