23 year old M. History of running consistently for the past 4 years.
I’ve had a great year of training. Tons of cycling, and a good chunk of running since last marathon a year ago. Previous PB is 3:38, my one and only marathon. Since then I completed 2 50 k trail runs, and stayed very consistent in my running/endurance training.
This year I ran a 1:23:39 hm early March. I felt strong, didn’t taper for this. And ran it on tired legs. My HR stayed in zone 3 the entire time.
Today I ran an effort 5 km, once again not tapered and on somewhat tired legs. I ran a 17:40, felt strong, controlled, and challenging.
I’ve had a good 5 month running training block, supplemented with a couple thousand kms of cycling. I hit 2 100 km weeks as my peak, but missed the 3 weeks prior due to business and not being able to train. Only did 20 kms each week. Then jumped to the 2 100 km weeks. The half marathon effort was the week before the 3 poor weeks of training.
My marathon is in 2 weeks. I think I can go Sub 3, but don’t want to short myself and pace it too slow… am I capable of well under sub 3, or should I go out at 4:13/km even?
If you could offer insight to what I may be able to run, or how to pace this sub 3 attempt that’s be super helpful! Thank you!
