Hello, it’s dual meet season for my team and my coach usually has us run only a threshold 3200m but I always feel like I’m not getting enough work in. What else can I add on to this effort? More threshold, more tempo, speed work, etc.? Thanks!

Can you please provide some more context.
Do you mean that your only weekly workout is a 3200m threshold? What is your milage, what else do you do..times, experience etc.
No-not the only workout. For the first month of track season we are doing a dual meet and another workout before a Friday/Saturday race. The other workout is typically 400s or shorter intervals unlike the dual meet which is more aerobically based. I’m at around 35-40 miles a week (I am a junior girl) and I run around 11:10 for the 3200m and 5:05 for the 1600. I’ve been doing track since 8th grade. Hope this helps!
I don't think you will get any benefits from doing any more hard stuff in the build up to a Friday and Saturday race. 1 threshold session and a 400 repeat session ticks the boxes in a week, when you are in HS you race a lot anyway which gives you most of the hard stimulus that you need.
Agreed - I think the coach is doing a fine job and also the athlete shows promise for expressing the desire to do more even if it’s not advisable (shows a drive to excel).
