Ran competitively in college (5 years ago) and started getting back into running this past year. Have a marathon coming up next month and have no clue what my pacing should look like. Don’t have a goal time, just want to have an honest effort and ideally a slight negative split. Just looking for guesses so I get a feel for what’s reasonable.
Workouts: Usually two tempos a week, between 6-8 miles depending on the day. Pace is usually 545-555. Slightly hilly loop, don’t look at watch during just run by feel.
Long runs: 22 mi at 6:52, miles 10-22 were around 6:30, last mile 6:15. Just ran by feel, wasn’t trying to run fast but felt good.
Also did 20 where 10-18 were supposed to be marathon pace, averaged about 6:25, but basically did a progression where I started around 6:35 and closed the last few around 6:10.
