I'm not a huge fan of Centro but I don't know which arrogant ass gets off deciding when it is officially the time for another athlete to retire. Maybe he is happy competing as long as he can. Why shouldn't he be free to do that. Why is it that some jerk thinks that just because he is not winning it is time to retire.
Sports is really just entertainment. Lots of people like watching Centro run, so he could keep going for a few more years.
He is probably retiring because he knows he's not the same Centro that he used to be, and that's got to be tough, going from number 1 in the US, to struggling to be in the top 5 or 10.
Never bring up the fact that the gold medal race was won at 3:50:xx.
Cry babies will enter this arena and complain.
Funny, everyone else was slower than 3:50x at that olympics. It's almost like he deserved the Gold for winning.
And if you look at his other credentials, he was winning that thing one way or another. Fast or tactical. Haters make excuses, winners focus on winning.
He's still getting paid to run, why would he retire? And he's reasonably going to finish top 5 at the US championships again this year, maybe a small tiny chance he could somehow make another olympic team. If Centro should retire, then most top US runners should retire.
87 down votes to just 19 upvotes as of the time I see your post. You were defeated big time.
You are clearly way past your prime. It embarrassing. You should stop posting here. You should just quit the internet completely. You should just retire.
Your welcome. Glad I could help you decide what you should do with your life. You clearly need it.

You might consider picking up a book. At the very least, stop skipping English class.
Centro was a filthy doper under Salazar okay? Never trust him ever. His decline completely incidental with his departure from Salazar!!!! Just shows you how dirty he is again!!!!
If you want to make allegations of doping at least call out that he was associated with Jerry Schumacher and BTC who actually had a doping positive and not NOP that didn’t have a single athlete sanctioned for anything.
Centro's quote on the front page of Letsrun today is a perfect response to the questions about where he is with his career. Honest and professional.
He understands and acknowledges his situation, is a competitor and wants to give it one more chance (like all of us would) but understands he may not have it any more. That's hard to share with the world. Think of all the athletes who kept going after their peak (most quarterbacks...). You can't put out that fire right away if somewhere inside you have an inkling you might be able to pull it off if all goes perfectly to plan. I appreciate his stance on what must be difficult to let go of.
I don't know what more you guys want from athletes.
