I am a middle distance runner and my Pr's from this seasons time trials are
400m: 52.82
800m: 2:03 (I can run like a 2:00 or 2:01, I went out in 56 and died)
1600: 4:34
3200: 10:08
I run 6 days a week with two workouts and 3 easy days and a long run typically done around 6:50-7:30 pace.
My teammates just ran a 50 flat in the same trial as me and we have the same 800 (we all ran 2:02-2:03) the day prior. They both outkicked me as they have a faster 400. I have a much stronger mile and 2 mile then both of them (Both 400/800 runners) and I know if I got my 400m time down to a 50 or even a 49 by late May then I could run around 1:55 and 4:20, which is what I need to place well at states. How do I improve my 400 speed? My coach is trying to make me a 1600/3200 guy but I literally just don't have the genetics to do that as my body breaks down whenever I run more than 35miles a week, and im not one of those kids who can so I need something I can do on my own to get this speed down whether it be in the weight room, or maybe I do something by myself? Or after runs?
