If Sadie can run open races and compete for her HS team then so can Braden. CIFSS is in for a treat with their mismanagement. Hopefully Braden is in contact with CIF
If they had the meeting a week ago, and they decided she was in violation, why wasn't she just ruled ineligible then? Instead, they are going to wait until THE BIGGEST HIGH SCHOOL MEET IN THE COUNTRY, to disqualify the biggest girls star, to announce something they decided 2 weeks ago?
CIFSS had a meeting this week after Meet of Champions and she’ll lose her eligibility this season. The official ruling will happen next Friday. They had to wait until she raced a HS race for Ventura before she got the official violation

That doesn't add up.
It does add up. From what has been told CIF Southern Section’s office are close for spring break until Wednesday. Thats why the delay.
Sadie E ran in an open meet where she had a HS option and she ran the open race while ignoring the HS option. That’s a violation and will cause her to forgo her Jr year for HS for CIF. She also ran an open / college meet and that is also a violation. Two violations in that one meet. In simple terms if CIF allows Sadie E to do it why not let everyone? Unfortunately they CIF chose to not allow everyone. Sadie and her coaches knew the risks of what they did and it’s their fault. The blame is on these adults trying to bend the rules and screw the system in order to get special privileges for their athlete. Why does everyone else have to follow the rules and not Sadie E?
the rules are the rules. they are stupid but there shouldn't be exceptions. but maybe if there is enough of an uproar the rules will be changed sooner than later.

I hope the rules chance and so do many other HS coaches in California. I had athletes race at Sound Running in the HS sections. They were all confused when Sadie E ran in the open section. My athletes told me that Sadie’s teammates were saying her HS coach told her it was ok to run. I don’t know Josh, her coach but he was not informed correctly. He’s also new to HS coaching so he can play dumb. However, until they allow other kids the same privileges it will be an issue. The point that she picked a race that had a HS option is like saying FU to all the other coaches and HS athletes. Thats the bigger of the two violations that Sadie E broke.
Sadie’s coach should call Sean Brosnan. At one point he had to deal with the CIF on the weekly basis. I think CIF had Brosnan on speed dial. If there is anyone who knows a loophole and the rules it’s him.

There is nothing stopping CIF from changing the rules. Or, they could continue to follow the precedent from last year where the top HS stars don't compete in the state meet. And I think we will see more of this.

I'm not arguing against the rules or punishment, I am just saying the timing doesn't add up. This was known to be a problem BEFORE The TEN. And right after The TEN, people on this board were saying we would hear of her CIF DQ within a week. That was Feb.17th. So they are going to wait 7 weeks, until the day Arcadia starts before telling anyone?
Maybe it happened that way, but that seems to require a level of incompetence beyond even what I could believe. Even for state employees.
I say all of this as someone who was quite certain Sadie would announce forgoing CIF after The TEN. The NP boys timed their last HS meets differently, but they all did it seemingly aware of the same rule, and came to their own decision when to forfeit CIF.
Well the Young brothers stated in their interviews that they weren’t eligible for CIF because they were racing against the pros. Otherwise they would have loved to race CIF senior year.

They didn’t read the rule book or were misinformed. It’s on CIF website.

Might be a controversial pov but I don't care. Saying “rules are rules” when they are clearly dumb and designed to limit the kids should be totally broken and burned down. There were no kids wandering around the meet confused, stop being ridiculous. NOBODY cares. The cif does not care about its athletes so stop the nonsense of showing all this loyalty to a group that supports this: league meet, to prelims, to finals, to masters meet, to first round of state meet to final day after. Thats 5 straight weeks of state championships everywhere else. NOT good for development. And hey, instead of running the 3200 the night before all those Saturdays lets run it at 2-3pm when its the hottest part of the day!
HS athletes, go race where you want and place two meets in between the next one you want to do.

Actually in the rulebook it says you can not run an open race if any college athlete is representing their college at that same meet.
The rulebook says you must run in the HS portion of the meet. Meaning Sound Running had HS races and she could not run the open race over those HS races.
Sadie broke both of those rules. It’s clear as day in the rule book. I think most coaches are just mad special privileges would be made for one person. Sadie could not get a violation until she came back and ran a HS race after Sound Running. This is why CIF has to move forward with this situation this week. Sadie will run into an issue trying to race at Arcadia.
This goes on her coach. He didn’t understand what he was looking at.

Sadie and her parents and her coach were all aware of Leo and Lex Young not running CIF meets after running in pro races last year. So you would think that at least one of them would have done some research into the idea that Sadie could run both CIF races and pro races. If they all just assumed it would be OK, and their assumptions turn out to be wrong, and she got banned from CIF meets for the rest of the year, that would be a huge own goal.
But what about Rich Gonzales, Arcadia's meet director? He should be aware of the CIF rules. If he thinks that Sadie is ineligible for Arcadia, then why would he list her in the start lists?

Rich Gonzalez is not CIF. Of course he wants her to run. She hasn’t been suspended YET. Ask Rich about the rules and he will tell you nothing. He knows she broke the rules. It’s ridiculous CIF has these rules I’ll admit that, but it’s more ridiculous to allow Sadie to run other races and no one else can.
To be clear Sadie broke these rules with either a braindead coach or knowingly. Either way it’s not CIFs problem
