Athletic Director/Cross Country Coach:
Please review the new CIF-SS Blue Book Q & A belowthat is highlighted in yellow that now accompanies the previous Q & A in green that speaks to unattached competition in a collegiate event. Students face the possibility of a loss of remaining high school eligibilityif they compete in a collegiate or open event.
It is important that coaches understand this and also share with parents who may be inclined to enter their children in a collegiate event as an unattached athlete.
Question: May an athlete compete unattached in a collegiate or open track meet?
Answer: No. CIF students are not eligible to compete at intercollegiate events (Bylaw 215).
<>Question: What is defined as a collegiate track meet and/or intercollegiate competition?
<>Answer: A collegiate track meet and/or intercollegiate competition is one in which collegiate athletes are competing for or representing their school.
Thank you,
