U of Oregon men didn’t qualify for NCAAs in cross country and now did not quality a single person for Indoor NCAAs.

Cook is good yes. 1:46 and 3:55 are great times. But even he had his breakout under Ben Thomas, who got him running 3:38. Realistically he has stagnated under Jerry, and it's even worse when you look at his injury history (perennially healthy under Thomas, has now missed 2/4 seasons under Jerry).

Just look at their roster man. They are STACKED with talent. Birnbaum was as good as Cook is now as an 18yo last year. Burns ran 3:58 as a 17yo two years ago. Harrison ran 3:59 at 18 and 4:01 at 16. And Palfrey ran 3:40 at 18. If even two of those guys were running at the level they should be, Cook should be relegated to the 800m leg of the DMR at best.

There's also EJ Holland who ran 3:46 at 18 and is a senior now I believe. Then of course all the 4:06-4:09 walk-ons they have that are maybe running 4:02-4:06 now, if they even race. It's really just sad.

There are two ways to look at this…there’s the hell-bent Duck hating perspective that a handful of you regularly promote…never satisfied that they either don’t race, or when they do it’s with freshman, or even worse-not with Birnbaum.

Then there’s another perspective that there is a plan (which a majority of schools follow) that redshirts 18 year olds to capitalize on them maturing as runners.

i was reading the Lex and Leo posts, and most posts were very supportive of their 7:55s in the 3000 and their 4:02 in the mile. Same age runners as the Ducks who have been running, same times (7:56 and 7:59, and 4:02s)…so great for freshmen at Stanford, but not good enough for you idiots at Oregon.

Just chill the hell out. You have the same sad commentary stalled on repeat. Maybe write something that shows you know a little bit about running, instead of showing off your obvious bias against the Ducks.

It’s not rebuilding when the teams get worse and worse. That’s called destroying. Oregon not at a championships for distance will make old man Tyson turn in his grave.

Why would old man Tyson turn in his grave over something Jerry is doing? And who is old man Tyson? The Chicken guy in Arkansas? What does the guy(s) who paid for the Arkansas indoor track have to do with what is happening at Oregon? Is there a Tyson on note somewhere in the Oregon track historical past that I don't know about or have you confused the Arkansas and Oregon programs?

Imagine getting multiple of the best high school recruits ever and them getting slower in college. You want to call that unfair bias against the Ducks?

Both Stanford and Oregon teams as a whole have been disappointments this year, but unlike Simeon and Connor, both the Young Twins have been racing well and contributing to their team's success such as in Cross and Indoor track. But that is more of a knock on Jerry than the boys he coaches.

Guys like you will never be satisfied. Most upper D1's redshirt their freshmen. It's a common practice. (BTW Connor Burns did run XC as a true freshman). What the hell is your problem with the idea of redshirting freshmen in order to capitalize on years 2-5 of their college careers. The answer is (since it's common practice), that you just have a relay baton stuck up your butt for Oregon....
