Interesting development. Addy Ritzenhein just ran her first race this winter, a 1600 in 4:50.22 yesterday. She won by 10 seconds, so I'm not sure if she was going all out or not.
I had thought Addy might have been taking the entire winter season off, but obviously not. Which is good, since that means there is a chance that Addy might enter either the 2 mile or 5k at Nike Indoor Nationals against Leachman. Which would mean a race pitting the NXN champ vs the Foot Locker champ. (But without mud.)
Addy Ritzenhein and Niwot (REAL Training) are not going to Nike Indoor Nationals this year like they did last year. They are going to New Balance Indoors this year.
That's a solid opener for Addy, I believe the altitude conversion is 4:40-4:42ish. She was 11 seconds ahead of second place, Keeghan Edwards (who has a 1600 PB of 4:49).

I think she might be finally getting the mile pacing down and also the concept of taking it easy when she doesnt have to push herself. Ran a limited effort 4:40 at her district meet and then a nice easy 10:26 in the 32 to win both easily. I think this is the first time Ive ever seen her run a 32 or 2 mile and not push it. Thats a good development as far as Im concerned. Maybe her coaches have finally gotten her to buy into the concept that you dont need to max out when you are running three races and there is no competition (she also ran a 2:10 800). And if she can manage a 4:40 it sure looks like significant sub 4:40 is coming at states, especially since she ran the second half of a 2 mile at around that same time if I recall from Nike indoor. Wonder how far under she can go...

The 2:10 at a local meet is most surprising for me. I was under the impression she was blasting it from the start because she felt she had no kick. But that is a solid 800m time for her which I’m assuming wasn’t all-out.
