Bannister was sick when he beat Landy in Vancouver. Didn't talk about. Landy had a cut foot. Didn't mention it. But for today's prima donnas, anything to explain away a loss.
As I said in a previous post: Jakob could have (tactically) kept his mouth shut, and instead let his support apparatus leak the details about his sickness, and by that become the silent wounded hero. But he doesn’t play this game -he tries to be honest.

He should like Stewy - has served as a great volunteer extra pacer
Stewy has shown a couple of times that it’s all about fitness, and not about 400m speed. A super fit Stewy sometimes in near future could out run almost everybody. And it’s pretty much the same strategy Jakob goes for…
Let me give you a hint -try sometimes to look at the context. Then you don’t have to deny the obvious over and over again (Or you could stick with your narrative -but what about some reasoning and arguments for your views; doesn’t make a point of view more true if you repeat it ten times without an argument/ explanation…).
Formally it doesn’t of course -Kerr is the fair and square champ. But as an explanation it sometimes is revealing, especially if the context / circumstances affirm it…
I truly think Jakob could have pulled off the front-run win in 2023 had he not been ill.
Jakob's 2nd lap of 58.2 after Kipsang's ideal opening lap of 56.0 was an obvious sign that something was wrong. Kerr even thought the same. Jakob would never intentionally run 3:37 1500m pace.
But I don't think he'll pull it off in 2024. I suspect the fitness gap between him and Kerr/Nuguse will be much smaller this year. It was already pretty small between him and Nuguse in the Bowerman Mile. If that race had no pacers and Jakob led the whole thing, Nuguse probably would've beaten him.
Not to forget that foregone Achilles injury scar tissue curse!!! This is the main bogeyman I assure you.

Agreed, to be fair to Jakob too, he had a fever temperature as well didn't he??? It's not just a sore-throat, but a sore-throat + fever!!! I've had that before and I know at its worst I was bed-ridden!!! Jakob likely also wins without these 2 debacles but in sport the winner is the one that needs PERMISSION to win, and that permission is granted by Christ Jesus The Lord!!! Jakob could also have won with a sore throat and fever if only he was PERMITTED BY GOD!!!
There is a reason why they immortalized champions and winners it's because fundamentally they were first anointed and appointed by The Lord God immortal Himself!!!!
