But also a year of Dowling making NXN?
They are looking to be the most senior-heavy team they’ve been in a while
Districts are Thursday. I can't get over some of the assignments. Teams are moving all over the place but the districts are very unbalanced.
Its a team sport based on individual effort. How do you sort out nearly 20 events over all classes when you have no idea what the coaches are going to try to do just so everyone gets an easy ride into state that you think should have it?
Go run, jump and throw your best. Its the only thing that can be controlled. Top 2, auto then fill the field with the remaining best. Sounds fair to many. It's not cross country.
Explain better what your referring to
Explain what you don’t like
I agree. Then why make teams drive extra distance? Some examples were already given. Lin-Mar gets sent to Dubuque while Bettendorf gets sent to Cedar Rapids. It is 75 miles for Bettendorf to Dubuque or Cedar Rapids so rather than send them to Dubuque, Lin-Mar drives 75 miles to Dubuque and Bettendorf drives 75 miles to Cedar Rapids. Waterloo drives through Cedar Rapids to Iowa City while Bettendorf passes through Iowa City enroute to Cedar Rapids.
Probably so you dont have your conference meet 2 weeks in a row. Otherwise, they could just qualify out of there.
Im sure it has to do with who is willing to host, then mixing up the teams a little to keep it interesting. Cant send Bett further east or CBTJ further west. If you dont want to travel, insist on hosting.
First of all, we are hosting and not travelling and ended up with the easiest district in the state which tells you I am more than objective in making this statement.
Second of all, Bettendorf could be sent to Dubuque and Lin-Mar could stay home which eliminates 150 miles of school busses spewing fumes.
Third of all, Lin-Mar has fewer teams competing in their town from their conference meet than they do where they are being sent.
Do you have any additional rationale ad to why they made some of these odd decisions? Who is on the committee? Did somebody have another agenda?
You are on the correct track. The hint is that it isn't the boys.
It appears that the moves made the districts more unbalanced than they would have been by keeping teams nearer to their home sites.
Yes,

1 in the hand is worth 2 in the bush....
I think you should call IGHSAU & IHSAA right away and ask for an explanation! Im sure they would be happy to explain their evil agenda they've been plotting since last year.
Likely some people on the committee from the schools that ended up with an easy path.
What schools?

Anyone have a link to the 4A Dubuque Qualifier Results?
I think the Dubuque school district owns its own timing system and has a site where results are posted live during high school and middle school meets at Senior, but they disappear the next day. It's frustrating for everyone. I've emailed the district activities director about it (and since his son is a top distance runner himself, he should understand).
Results were there for about 24 hours. I checked bound but they aren't there yet.
merrick won both 1600/3200
Martin of cf was 2nd in 1600
