LRC Note: Hello everyone. Jonathan Gault reached out to Letesnbet's management team to ask them about her grabbing her shorts. They responded that it's "a little bit (of) a habit of Letesenbet at times, that she will learn to control the more experienced she gets."
That was bizarre. Moments earlier she was checking her watch and gave a thumbs up sign to someone. I assumed she was preparing for the win and wanted to look organized for the finish line photos.
It seemed like she was making adjustments all race. Assumed it was jitters from the slow pace, but doing it thru the whole last mile was bizarre. I hope everything is okay, maybe stomach issues or an injury.
One poster on the boards once said something in the lines of: "If aliens arrived on Earth and needed an explanation to what running is, a video of Gidey is what they should be shown".

If I recall correctly I gave that quote. But yes, Gidey is a beautiful sight to behold. She runs like somebody skipping stones upon a beautiful mountain lake on a still and sunny day. - In contrast Obiri runs like she is charging directly into a hurricane whilst being attacked by a hive of angry bees……
Tamirat Tola of Ethiopia set a course record to win the New York City Marathon men's race on Sunday while Hellen Obiri of Kenya pulled away in the final 400 meters to take the women's title.
As a super experienced marathoner (2 marathons finished, one barely so) I can attest that I become a very stupid and irrational person the last 6-7 miles. She was probably mentally honking pretty good.

first, she spends most of this finish "chasing the game" from slightly behind. she didn't lose because of fidgeting. she was already falling back a little after a brief pulse up to even. second, it struck me as anxiety or OCD (as someone said), a nervous tic. the necklace didn't seem to be wildly swinging or hitting her in the face. she just seemed to touch the necklace and front bottom of her loose singlet over and over.
we should know from sifan that pretty or efficient doesn't always win.
