Have had good experiences w/ 1080s in the past. Never had a pair of Triumphs but have been hearing good things. Leaning towards the latter to see what they’re like.
Figured I’d get some input before making the plunge. Thx.

Triumphs are a great show and you can pick up the 20s for cheap now.
My daughter used to love the 1080s and then they messed up the heal counter and she switched to the Triumph and likes it. She uses Asics Magic Speed for tempos.
Check out the reviews on BRS if you haven't already.

Sold, Thanks.
I remember NB messing with the heel. A classic example of fixing something that wasn’t broken and making it worse.

Why do people ask advice on a particular shoe? Everyone's feet are different. No two (2) people have the same exact mold of feet and so, no two (2) shoe/foot combo will be the same. Likewise, different manufacturers and their different models are all a bit different too. I went thru 8 to 10 different makes and models until I found what was best for me.
And I actually tried NB's 1080 until I settled on Saucony Triumph. Its been my shoe for 7 years.
I have 1080v12s and Triumph 19s
Triumphs feel less cushiony underfoot and more stable/structured overall. If you put them on right after the 1080s, you immediately feel like there is more underfoot and it’s firmer underfoot. The triumphs feel slightly bigger than the 1080s and I need to tie them slightly tighter to get good heel lock.
if I’m going for a 5-8 mile easy run or a recovery run, probably prefer the 1080s. All other situations prefer the Triumphs
I find Triumph 20 to be very good (at least for me). Had 18th and was quite satisfied with them, then 19th brought some disappointment, but model 20 is very good again.

Went with the Triumphs and have been very happy so far. As said, not quite as cushioned as the 1080s or as soft as the Invincibles but for $100 a very solid comfortable trainer with sufficient cushioning. Will definitely buy again.
NB just launched the 1080v13. Really nice. We had some to test at my store a little while back and have been excited for them to come out to get another pair.

It looks like they did away with whatever that funky heel counter thing was that they switched to on the 1080. They probably heard about that. A lot of people didn't like it. It sort of looks like the Clifton now.
$165 now! 😳
