I was looking for a highly cushioned, durable shoe with significant heel drop (on account on some achilles niggles).
My previous such shoe was the Saucony Ride 13, before that the Nike Epic React 2.
Both were fine shoes. The Triumph 20 is probably an upgrade over the Ride 13, with a much plusher, bouncier ride, a promised longer lifespan/durability on account of the TPU foam; and a comfier upper.
The Triumph may be slightly less "stable" than the Ride 13- my heels sometimes brush the inside of my calf as I bring the rear leg forwards.
It's easy to up the pace a bit in the Tri 20, because it gives so much back.
I've run only 40k or so, and I cannotjudge the durability yet.
They also look great in the "Palm gold" colourway.
I've love the last 3 Triumphs. They were very consistent in their fit and feel. But this version... wow! The midsole was completely different. Lighter, springier with much more energy return. Initially...i did NOT like it...it felt "unstable." But, after a few runs, my perception changed and i suddenly DID like the shoe:) So..buy it!
I'd never been a Saucony wearer until recently. I used to wear Nike Pegasus as my main daily trainer but heard that the Triumph had updated and evolved in it's 20th edition so gave it a try. I was not disappointed. This is a comfortable, cushioned, durable shoe. It's like your comfortable sofa, a favourite home cooked meal or that pair of jeans that just feels right - you may not rave about it everyday but it's always there for you when you need it. A shoe that will keep a place in my rotation.
Very solid shoe that lasts a long time. Won’t disappoint either. Probably isn’t the best at anything but is very good at everything. Would keep to easy runs + strides and tempo at fastest. Would recommend - 9/10.
I have loved this shoe. Great for everyday running but has enough get up and go that it can be used for tempo runs or slower track intervals.
Wasn't exactly what I was looking for after buying it. Price was really cheap compared to other shoes but I will say that if you are looking a hobby jog shoe than I definitely recommend this shoe. To put it simply, unlike other shoes I've had in the past I start to feel foot pain at around 7-9 miles into a run while wearing these shoes. For instance the other day I was going my LR and it was almost unbearable pain in them but for my easy 6 milers this shoe feels like a dream.
Awesome shoe. Great cushioning, comfort, energy return, fabrication, looks.
The new saucony triumph 20 is a very springy upgrade from the 19. The upper is comfortable and breathable. The midsole is amazingly springy! The sole began to peel off at the heel around 250 miles. I would NOT run anywhere but on a road with these shoes due to the instability of the midsole. Overall...a very cushioned springy road shoe!
8I find that for an everyday trainer that the Saucony Triumph provides ideal fit and really great cushioning. It is a very comfortable shoe with reasonable durability. I like it for running roads as well as trails. The only minor downside is that the look of the shoe is average- average with really no defining distinctive features which overall is a very minor complaint.
As my first max cushioned shoe I was rather skeptical, as there is a lot of competition in this category right now. As a forefoot/midfoot striker who never particularly ran high mileage, I needed something that could just eat miles as I moved up in events for longer runs and recovery runs. I didn't like how high the stack height was, but after biting the bullet on a nice colorway all my skepticism was alleviated. Despite being a bit on the heavier end, the weight is distributed super well and the shoe never feels heavy on foot at all. After some 70 miles in the shoe, the outsole is still in excellent condition, with the forefoot area still looking brand new despite most of my foot strike being in that area. Other runners have used these for 500-600+ miles and their outsoles look very intact with the midsole foam also being very springy still - a sign that the shoe will last well beyond most other trainers on the market.
I never thought I'd have my heaviest most cushioned shoe be my favorite to run in, but it happened. Though the shoe is definitely meant for easier/longer runs, I never find it difficult to pick up the pace in these and love the responsiveness of the PWRRUN PB+ foam. I personally value foot feel and responsiveness very highly, and these shoes don't make it difficult for increasing the pace on longer progression runs; it feels very natural.
As a slightly wide-footer, however, I had to go half a size in these as the toebox runs a little narrow. After reading some other reviews, I went up to a size 10.5 and I'm happy I did, as it fits perfectly around the midfoot and leaves just enough room in the forefoot. For other Saucony's such as the Kinvara 13 I'm a size 10M wide, Speed 3 size 10 (perfect fit), and for Nikes I'm a size 10.5/11 for racing shoes.
For those looking for a responsive, versatile max cushioned shoe, this is probably the best option on the market.
