Rumor comes from the Coffee Club Podcast. George said Kerr isn't racing and 5th Ave is his last race.
Would go without saying this would be annoying if true. Kerr's initial stated goal in Zurich was to race to get the points necessary to qualify for the DL Finals. That's what he said after winning Gold, and he even admitted to Citius Mag he wasn't exactly thrilled with the turnaround and the need to race it to get into Eugene. But that was what was needed to get into the second biggest race of the year and one not far from where he is based. But now you can't say this move stinks of anything other than dodging Jakob for whatever reason. 5th Avenue has a reasonably strong field, but nowhere near the prestige or pressure of the DL Final. It also comes first, has no sponsor obligation, and is fully workable with racing in Eugene almost a week later.
if this is true, what a steaming bowl of weak sauce that would be. talk about avoiding confrontation...sheesh. not that he cares by any stretch, but unless he's injured, i'll lose a significant amount of respect for him.

I hope he's not ducking. After his Budapest gold while still on the track and a few seconds after crossing the line, he shouted to the crowd in a fit of emotion, "I'm the best! I am!" I took that to mean, Jakobs not the best, I am!
I also though he said GOAT instead of best, but I can't confirm that.
If he was serious on either count, he needs to show up and race! Prove it again and again. It comes with a gold medal.
Letsrun friendship ended with Lyles and Kerr, those big meanies!
I can’t believe these entitled millennial runners won’t run every event, but also try their hardest at every event and not ease up, and be uninjured, but also peak for the major championships and not go home devastated. but also make stepchanges in their training and performance ability in between, but then also taper into all of the races that they should also race.
why can’t everyone be Connor Mantz, but like, Connor Mantz that improves and wins stuff?
also, why are they so ungrateful for my fan affection? Jim Runningham showed up to the state meet in 1989 with a proper haircut, looked me straight in the eye and shook my hand. No single runner since that day has lived up to my expectations.
Wightman did the same thing last year after beating Ingebrigtsen. No reason to. A lot to lose and nothing to gain by beating him again. He already won the biggest race of the year.

I wish all you joggers and fans were as aggressive calling out all the Americzn runners who've hidden most of the year.
Such outrage from you.
Even if he doesn't run, I would be surprised if if he's raced less than any US "elite" runner this year.

I don't understand this logic. What does Kerr lose by running the DL final? This isn't a gun duel or even a boxing world title fight.
Kerr is the reigning 1500 champ and he'll be the reigning world champ regardless of what happens in any race until at least 2025.
For me to believe Kerr is hands down the superior 1500 runner to JI, I'd have to see him beat JI again this season.
A miler's peak is short. Manangoi, Cheruyoit, Wightman all came and went without really capitalizing on their Worlds victory. If I were Kerr, I'd ride the hot hand as long as I could.

I thought he said “ I own the gold” but it was difficult to hear very well
