For some reason I got tears in my eyes when listening to the well-spoken athlete that won the girls race.
Hedengren is very mature for her age and incredibly humble. the words "profound" and "teenager" generally arent associated with each other very often but she has more than once been described as "wise" by full grown adults who have had the chance to speak with her. check out the interview she had with the Running Report after she won the two mile at Nike last year.
Programs that show a lot of talent potential in the year 2024 and could level up their program for the next year (Dougherty Valley, Loyola, Desert Hills, Woodbridge, Lee's Summit, Shadow Ridge, El Dorado, Oak Park, Rancho Cucamonga, Centennial(NV), Santiago Corona, Arapahoe, Ayala, Mountain View, Tesora, West Ranch, Hamilton)

In 2023, the top 9 runners ran under 16:00 for the 3 mile at woodbridge course, I am excited to see how many of these runners will be able to become successful coming the national championships for both NXN / Footlocker. I am also curious on how many of these girls will break 10:00 for the 3200?
Last year, there were 2 girls that broke 16:00 for the 3 mile at woodbridge course. Both of these runners had great results.
How many of the top 9 woodbridge athletes will be able to have the same success at the national xc level this year? How many top 9 woodbridge athletes will be able to break 10 for the 3200?

Five already have and Blade is 2 seconds away. Maybe the question is who can go sub 9:50?
Based on a YouTube video of that NXN 2 mile, I think Hedengren is already there. She ran a 69.x sec closing 400m, and we can see what she looks like from the side when she really opens up her stride.

What this indicates is that Buchanan is looking to have a best boys team in California next year. They placed 18th at the sweepstakes race and return all of their 1-5. Plus they have some freshmen and sophs at the top of JV that will make the team deep.
Is Brian Weaver their boys coach too? Or just the girls coach?
I make cool vids about Track and Field (and occasionally ultrarunning/road racing). Also have a slight bias for the mile. Not a news channel btw lmao (no sponsor offers, but DM's/emails are welcome for other inquiries e.g. podcasts, interviews, editing etc) runnerboiyt@gmail.com for said inquiries

-Izban Felix ran 14:17 at Woodbridge. He improved and went sub 14:00. 13:56 at League Meet.
-Evan Noonan ran 13:41 at Woodbridge. He improved and ran 13:39 at his League race today. He is only 1 second off the national 3 mile record which is held by Leo Young.
-Jayden Hernandez 13:55 at his league meet behind Noonan. He wasn't able to race woodbridge because of SOP transfer rules.

JSerra....14:33, 14:44 (not at Woodbridge), 14:48, 15:33, 15:48 (not at Woodbridge), 15:52 for top 6 returners.

I'd add Oaks Christian to the list for the Boys side. They return 14:34, 14:50, 15:11, 15:48, 17:09, 17:10 Woodbridge times.
Even though you already had them on the 22-23 improved list, they could easily take another jump and go from 1:16 team time to 1:15 or 1:14:30 for the 23-24 list.
If one of those 17 minute guys gets down to 16 next year or they get a transfer, they're either podiuming the rated race or being somewhere in the 15 place range in the Sweeps.

If Oaks Christian finds a 5th next year they could do something special.
Oaks has more talent than seen at first glance; McNee (14:50) fell during woodbridge, but has consistently been ahead of Yoder (14:34) throughout the season. Mitchell (15:48) fell and recieved a concussion at woodbridge but ran a 15:34/5 yesterday at a hilly leagues course. Since their 5th man is a freshman (who has been improving constantly) he might be able to clsoe the gap a bit next year, but a transfer would be much to their benefit.
agoura could definitely level up their program too. Losing two senior scorers but they have two good juniors (16:18 @clovis; 15:51 @cool breeze) + (15:57 @hilly leagues; 16:07@Cool breeze) and also have 3 good sophmores [(15:48), (16:33@hilly leagues+16:41 cool breeze), (15:53, 16:40@hilly leagues)] Most seem to lack consistency though
Can we acknowledge something historic happened at this meet? Evan's time of 13:39.0 (actually from the video it shows 13.38.6) is faster than Nico Young rec...
