She's certainly a far cry from how most other track athletes handle their business. Look at runners like Michael Norman, and Grant Fisher who failed to make the team in their respective events yesterday. They met with the media, answered questions like pros, and held their heads high. Those are just 2 examples, there's plenty of others.
Sha'Carri, even when she WINS, refuses to talk with anyone, and if she loses? All bets are off. She's threatening to sue World Athletics for even speaking her name, or disrespecting the rest of the media, insinuating that they're "out to get her".
No other athlete does things like this.
She's an immense talent, but has ALOT of maturing to do, and it doesn't feel like she's really learned anything over the last couple years of drama.
No, if she was more relaxed, positive and professional like the other athletes (see the videos) then people would like her a lot more. She clearly does have a nice/positive side: she engages with fans and passionately advocates for the sport, but the confrontational, curt "fvck the haters" attitude and mindset dominate whenever the topic is about her performance.
She acts like a child. It had improved for a lot of this year, but when she started some of the same old antics before the race, I figured she would have a poor race by her recent standards and she did. She focuses more on how she presents herself than she does running 100 meters in the least amount of time.
Context matters, and this was a poor race. She had a 10.65-10.70 in her and went 10.82.
Before anyone says it, it’s not a black thing. It’s not even a personality thing. She’s just immature and it’s getting old. None of the our athletes seem to have much of a problem staying humble and confident as opposed to arrogant and childish. And guess what? Most of the other sprinters are black too. So spare me this whole black woman persecution complex.
So, basically, if I understand you correctly, my Brotha, you are saying that all the other Black athletes comport themselves in a gracious and well-adjusted manner, but Sha’carri is a bit of a, ahem, black sheep?

Of the current leaders of U.S. Track and Field — yeah, pretty much. Lyles does a few things too but not anywhere near like what she does. And he knows where the line is. And can back up the talk.
The average LR tool hates women and black people, so she's a perfect bingo for these clowns.
Stunt on them, girl. You're the US champ, they're just a bunch of incel losers crying and pissing their pants on a message board on a Friday night.
Why do you suppose no other athlete garners this much criticism and controversy? Someone in this very thread used post race interviews from Brittany Brown and Tamari Davis as examples of positive and professional interviews. People gravitate towards likeable athletes. Richardson is anything but likeable when she speaks.
But yeah, everyone here is just racist and sexist I guess.

All the sprint times were slow today. The men's final was even slower, Lyles didn't even break 10. You are not calling him out for a poor race. She did what she needed to do today. I don't know why anyone cares if she is "immature" or "arrogant". Her job is only to run fast. And it's a bonus if she is entertaining as well.

Lyles didn’t have his best race, but Bracy is out and Kerley wasn’t running. 9.9 was about what was expected and if you thought someone was suddenly popping something fast today, you haven’t been watching this year. Coleman is pretty much a 9.9 guy at the moment

Yet you were somehow expcecting SCR to run 10.65. She had a poor start but still ran 10.82 in cool weather. I don't see that as a poor performance.

It was poor. And it wasn’t cool weather. No one else has problems. And why was she the only exceptionally poor start then? Was it mid 70s for everyone else but 45 degrees for her somehow?
Rips her wig off right before the start, then screams and waves her arms for 70m through the curve. The old Sha’carri is back, unfortunately.
Why unfortunately? It's entertaining. People are always complaining about boring interviews and stars with no personality. How do you want her to act?
As long as she wins I don't care how she expresses herself.
I hope she does well too. The concern people have is that she seems to think the world is "trying to stop her" and "out to get her" when in reality we just don't want people to show up angry at press conferences, drop f-bombs on TV, and act like everyone is her enemy. So much anger is not healthy. Just run, run fast, and celebrate! Celebration is a positive thing!
