Were you bummed out about there only being 2 heats of racewalk at Nationals? The NAIA has heard your cry and now we get 4 HEATS! Thanks for listening NAIA.

Yep. If the NCAA bumped the scholarship limit for men's track/cross from 12 to say 18 (the same as women's scholarship limit) you would probably see some NAIA talent migrate to those NCAA institutions assuming they get the same level of scholarship.
It can be especially easy to see the talent discrepancy when you start to look at the technical field events too, like pole vault and triple jump. Between having more opportunities AND fewer people fighting for said opportunities, can't blame these girls for opting for (presumably) nicer NCAA institutions.

Heard the Hyvee in Sioux Falls sells Bob Ross branded energy drinks. Could make things interesting.
Did anybody else notice that Sowder had the Cumberlands guys out there doing a 1k workout on the track last night! Very interesting!🤔🤔🤔
I wouldn't say 1ks are interesting kinda boring if you ask me. To each their own I guess. Most are racing Fri/Sat so doing a Tuesday medium-ish workout sounds about right.
They had their relays and 5k guys out there doing it who have prelims on Thursday though!🤷🏻♂️
The workout looked like it was 4x1000 threshold plus 300, 300, 200. Seems like a pretty reasonable tune up workout.
I agree it was interesting they alternated the laps running backwards and forwards. Working both sides like that was new to me. It was fun to watch though
Wow very interesting indeed! The coach and the runners at Cumberlands are probably absolutely clueless with what they are doing when it comes to training. You should probably reach out and give them some advice, they would probably be a lot better of a team if they listened to you!
Zero sarcasm, they probably would be.
everyone can:
1. recruit internationally
2. have competitive racewalkers
3. have athletes at any age
Everyone can’t have:
1. Bradley Sowder
They one of the best collections of foreign talent since VA Intermont.
I don't think anyone can do anything to really mess it up that badly
Just from reading this thread. It really warms my heart that the Cumberlands kids are learning English by posting on Letsrun. Probably the most educational thing to ever happen to this website
Don't forget Life University won it loaded with international students.
There were some huge surprises for the first day of prelims...
First off...The 5k prelim was actually fast on the men's side. No big surprises of who qualified or missed the finals since it wasn't a jog this year. Looks like we'll get the field of the 12 best 5k runners this time. I wouldn't be surprised if some of them are a bit tired heading into the final though.
The 4x8 had a couple big surprises. Olivet Nazarene making it to the final on the men's side was a bit of a shocker. Silva looked phenomenal for Oklahoma City. Dordt running a 7:37 without Mauldin leads me to think they'll be dominant with him in the final, they looked like they were really saving it up there and not wasting any effort in the prelim.
The first heat of the 4x8 for women was blazing fast as well. Couldn't have possibly seen Grace and St. Mary both running that fast. (Also four heats? You have to make this standard a bit tougher.)
Indiana Tech imploded in the 4x4. They had the top ranked men's team and top ranked women's team and didn't advance in either. The women's 4x4 ran FAST. 3:45 and 3:46 from ONU and William Carey in the prelim is no joke. Pretty similar to the 4x8, Dordt advanced without one of their top runners in Zevenbergen. They'll be looking good in the final.
Huntington's women looked a lot better than I expected in the DMR prelim. Their only runner doubling in that relay is Pinwar in the mile, so I'd expect them to be pretty fresh for the final and run well (I'm going to get down voted to hell for saying that, but that is what I expect.)
Texas Wesleyan got screwed in the 4x4 sucks for them
They can’t read but they sure can run by god
No scholarship limits anymore! (NCAA Track and Field inequality is going to get way worse, right?)
