Hahah, that would be WEIRD but somehow motivating at the same time?
The splits are absolutely awesome. I remember in high school going out in 58-60 routinely only to finish in like 2:09 or something. Was clearly doing something wrong!
What is your actual 800 PR? I'm assuming sub 2
Last time I ran one was in 10th or 11th grade. I think I got down to 1:58.3 I want to say but the specifics elude me.
Wowza! I think our State record was 1:56 here in South Dakota (Class A) when I went to high school. I was on the track when it was broken at the time. Granted, a kid at a local high school ran 1:50 last week. Kid is super talented though and has broken 4 minutes in the mile at a national meet so 1:50 wasn't too shocking!
hhw - A strange set up to be with the (sub?)elite women, a great first rust buster 800. Hopefully you can give your old HS time a good scare. HillyGuy - Lots of quality in that week. darkwave - Glad you made it through Thursday and got your NYC time. Sub 6 - 4th in a neighborhood 10k with a 33' is pretty competitive, glad you were able to chase some people down. notarobot - Lots of quality for you as well, very quick short reps. Thoughtsleader - Nice threshold 800s on Friday. pewow - sorry about missing your race. AverageForFun - another solid week of training. Jcanon - If the mile tempo in 5:17 was tempo then a sub 5 sub 17 should be no problem. Bleh - sorry about the knee pain, hopefully you can manage a good mile tomorrow still. BHViking - glad the calf was just a one day niggle, still impressive numbers.
Thanks RS, yes I looked back and it was probably tied for fastest I'd ever run that session. I've been pretty fit in the past for it, too. Ran it in my retired Next %s (which doesn't hurt) but still it was only 2 days after after a pretty good hills session. Nick work on the CR 5K for you, hoping to put down a solid marker soon as well. Gonna hit the East River track for some threshold 600s and a couple quick 200s tomorrow. It looks like there's a Juneteenth 5K in Central Park starting a half mile from me. That could be tempting to jump into from a convenience standpoint if it's not too hot.
HillyGuy - Great week with a lot of quality. darkwave - Nice job getting the NYC qualifier out of the way. Sub 6:00 - Congrats on the good 10k. Thoughtsleader - That's a lot of tempo work! pewow - Sorry sickness kept you from running. I'm glad you recovered in time to go climbing! AFF - Good volume despite having a busy week. Jcanon - Nice week. Pup/stroller runs sound like fun ways to break up the monotony of easy miles. RunnerSam - That must have been a great close to catch 5 people in the last 3/4. Nice job! BHViking - That's a well-deserved day off. It's impressive that you've been able to rack up all those 14-mile days!
