Irrelevant. When they look back on their careers, winning an ACC title when it was there for the asking will mean a lot.
More troll food...Ms Chmiel is a 10 time NCAA all-american, 2021 ACC xc champ, multi academic awards. I think she's not gonna miss an acc 5k title.
Touche! I’m a Chmiel fan as well. Unfortunately, she’s had a rough go of it lately, with Tuohy’s fast rise. A bit of deja-vous from HS, where she also dominated till Katelyn’s rise. She’s sick of playing second fiddle to KT and perhaps was taking the 5K a bit for granted w/out her long-time rival getting in the way. It was a bit of bad luck that Amaris found her second wind just as her kick was floundering. Chmiel has plenty to be proud of over her HS/College career. With her academic talents and plenty of schooling still ahead as a future veterinarian she may just forego a post college pro career to further her other professional aspirations.

Chmiel always has a pained combative expression on race day. You can't tell what she is thinking.
But far more interesting was the post interview clip where Tyynismaa walks over toward a coach and another North Carolina State runner. She puts her left arm around the coach's neck and anticipates a warm congratulations. It was anything but that. The coach barely smiles or acts like someone whose runners just finished 1-2. She gestures while obviously discussing something that happened during the race, or perhaps afterward. Tyynismaa senses the tension and removes her left arm from behind the coach's neck. The trio seems uncomfortable that the camera is still there and may be catching the conversation:
She kept looking around quite nervously during her post race interview which was interesting too. Then from interaction with the coach she had a lost look of having been scolded and wondering why. Oh what can I do in this place. There is definitely a high level of tension.

Chmiel was Touhy recruiter #1 (followed by E Henes and classmate Schultz). Chmiel knew they needed another runner or two to win nats. Chmiel and Touhy now best friends and E Henes close too.
What was missed in that race was how hard Chmiel is working on strong close. She really went for it from about 1200 out and just ran out of juice the last 110, getting out sprinted by a 4:09 1500 runner.
The disagreement is way overblown, in the video you can see when AT is worried about dq, first person she consults is Chmiel, amiably. For Chmiel, Tyynismaa is another important cog in the xc machine. Just like xfers Steelmann, Hays, and Seymour.

Didn't she also win an NCAA Elite90 award for having the highest GPA (and most hours completed if there were a tie) among competitors at a national championship competition?

My guess she'll have no issues getting into NCSU's top ranked DVM program if that is where she plans to study.

Yes she did win the Elite90, I had forgotten what it was called. Vet school is no lose, stay at state or come home to Cornell, both top 5. Chmiel is a top5 NCAA distance runner in her own right, #3 xc, #4 indoor 5k, #7 indoor 3k. I think she will give pro running a shot.

Yes, Cornell is very solid DVM program too and pathway back to upstate NY.
Agree about Chmiel being a T5 level NCAA runner in her own right and if not for all the accolades KT gets she'd be the star of the Pack women's squad. She flies under the radar with Tuohy also here as do some other quite accomplished runners, too.
Watch the video instead of just making up nonsense.
What a shame to transfer to a different school and then to be treated that way.
Yeah cuz she was worried about getting DQ'd... She crashed into runners still in the race and her water cup went flying...
Seriously some of you guys are borderline retarded...
Chmiel could give two s**** about an individual title especially when her teammate won...
All she cares about is having fun with her teammates and enjoying running and having the team do good...
She was glad she didn't have to do the interview... I mean chmiel hates doing interviews and individual attention so honestly she was happy for her teammate...
Tynnismma probably wants to run professional I doubt Kelsey does...
Why do folks think Chmiel won't run pro. Nuguse & Klecker both pre dental, Cranny & Hurta both pre med. It's quite easy to postpone grad school to run pro a few seasons. Chmiel won't run 800/1500, but she's fine for 5k/10k and roads. Her college prs similar to Henes, Cranny and better than Steelman.

She doesn't have any social media and doesn't really like that kind of attention... So right there it's hard to get a pro contract if you are kind of anti-social media and promoting yourself...
She might run some pro races just to stay in shape and cuz those are her friends and she likes running and training and all that... but she's not into individual attention...
There's a few different levels of pro runners, some are more like fitness models and some are more like brand ambassadors and some more like seriously trying to make the Olympics
Chmiel doesn't really fit into any of those categories and she seems like she just wants to be a vet...
Chmiel is old school. She wants to set prs and beat competitors. How is social media for Simpson, Constien, Wayment, MaccLean, Wilson, Henes and even Mu and Syd? Not a big deal, can help, but not barrier.
Every year 5-10 ladies go pro, many with COLLEGE prs below Chmiel. Think Makena Morley, Dani Jones, Annie Rodenfels, Emily Lipari, Rachel Nichols, Emily Mackay, Angel Piccirillo, Hannah Steelman, Michaela Degenero, Josette Norris, Natosha Rogers, etc. Chmiel was 3rd in xc last year, #1 in her class, as both Valby and Tuohy are younger of course she'll find a home. Maybe even at adidas w/ Henes and Touhy.
Instagram, some of these athletes like Touhy have big followings, but it's because they win, not because they spend a lot of time posting and working at it.
I'm with ya. Except in this case this person is half right. She was afraid she'd be DQed for interfering with other runners, which she did.
Agreed. There is obvious reason for Tyynismma to be nervous. It’s just mean to drag Chmiel into this conversation to sow doubts and spread hatred. Chmiel is a competitor and a great teammate. She has a bigger heart and a brighter mind than some of the mean LR posters combined.
