When I went sub 17 and under 36 in the 10K my repeats were typically 5:50-6:05 and my regular runs 8:10-8:30 pace. I just can't find another gear in training. Recently did 16:22 with regular runs at the same pace.

Same here, when i plug in my race times into training calculators and see what I'm expected to be training at, it's way faster than I actually train. Not sure what it means, but I just tell myself it's a good thing.
not a good thing or a bad thing to be honest. Easy days, let the body dictate the pace. If you feel good push it, if you're feeling a little stiff take it easy to allow the body to move blood around and loosen up. There are some people who are inherently "workout warriors" who are better at workouts than racing and vice versa.
