At out house my kids little swingset doesn't have a traditional pull up bar. It's got wood beams on the top holding the swings. Probably 4-5 inches in width.
So I used that. No ideal. Did 5 pulldowns. Then hung once. Did some push ups after that and 1 arm rows. Goal is not to be too sore for soccer on Sunday ;)

Australian pullups are a good start. Find a bar that's relatively low to ground, get underneath, and with your feet still touching the ground pull yourself up. It's basically a bodyweight row, but Australian pullup sounds way cooler, cause you're down under the bar.
I think they are also called "supine pullups." I do them in addition to standard pull-ups and chin-ups.
