Sure but we are talking about someone holding a watch and trying to measure 10ms. Do you think any of those value have any value? Anyone else remember when at the combine scouts would hand time 40s and have .1s of a second difference. This is worse. Might as well just make up numbers...
Sorry, and correct me if I'm mistaken, but I believe you might have responded to the wrong post. I never posted about rec./time on this thread. Others, perhaps, yes. But on this one I don't think so. If your reply was sent by mistake, that's ok, no harm, no foul.
Amazing. You hit 27.27 mph in only 10 yards. Usain Bolt only ran 23.72 mph when he set the world record in the 100m. It would have taken Bolt 0.876 to run 10 yards. You can certainly run about 8.20 seconds for the 100m, even faster when we consider that your first 10 yards would be the slowest. I'm predicting sub-8 in Paris next summer. Congratulations.
Time to stop training and work on your Paris victory dance.
This is a typical letsrun hobby jogger distance runner miscalculation , just because he averaged 23.7 mph doesn’t mean that was his top speed. 10m splits show top speed was over 27mph.
3. Realize how unimpressive your speed and athleticism is
4. Realize how little carryover there is from your stuff to real athletic events
5. Realize how much time you wasted
6. Introspect
7. Begin cognitive behavioral therapy
8. Grow as a person
9. Get real hobbies
10. Go for a run, leave the watch at home.
At the end of the day he’s doing a lot of things you distance runners are doing. You’re both not getting paid or being sponsored. You’re both running for fitness or goals, or at least you use to. A real hobby is a subjective thing. I understand the poster most likely has some social impairment, but there’s nothing wrong with him posting his training logs, that’s what the site is for. My only issue , which I keep telling him, is that hand timing a 10 yard , even 40 yard by yourself is useless and inaccurate.

Yes the one thing he does all the time is useless and inaccurate, glad we agree.
Since there was no actual footage other than your watch and then a black screen for the other 3+ minutes, I’m assuming this is a “flying” 10?
If that’s the case, that’s 40.0 feet/second. Which is 27.27 miles per hour. If you’re really that fast, it’s time to sign a shoe contract and some mega endorsement deals and go after those medals!
If that’s a standing start 10 yard, I won’t believe that for a second, (or even 0.75 of a second).
If you’re really serious about timing yourself in 10’s, I recommend investing in a fully-automatic timing system. They do all the work for you and there is no “variance” due to human error with a watch. (Most likely you are closer to 1.0 to 1.15 seconds in your flying 10’s).
NOTE: To others, there actually IS a benefit to knowing what your 10 yard (or meter), times are. One example that comes to mind; knowing what you’re flying final 10 in a long jump runway is will tell you how fast you’re hitting the board and give you an indication of your current ability in that event.
You wrote a bunch of reasonable stuff which is a waste of time for this troll. He is not interested in any event in T&F. These are indeed hand timed 10m starts, not flys. He routinely makes bizarre claims such as how adding 3.7 lbs to his dumbbell calf raise PR will improve his vertical by 0.3" etc, etc. No serious reply ever goes anywhere.

Oh. Well that seems odd. Is it just for sh*ts and giggles?

Extremely rare for me to get down this low in this. PR! Tied my personal record this past month in the 10yd dash with a .75 hand timed at 5'11 and 214lbs. This ties my all time personal record in this from Jan 1st, 2021 when I ran .75 at 5'11 and 206 lbs back then. So I tied it weighing 8 pounds heavier.
Just the other day I got my all time record in the standing vertical jump and had a really good workout of .82 and tons of .84s and .85s in the 10yd dash and I knew that I would come close to my all time record in the 10yd dash soon after that vertical jump record.
Well the past two weeks I got it. Full workout was
.75
.78
.78
.78
.78
.78
.81
.84
.84
2 to 3 mins rest in between each one.
Ran all 5 of those .78s in a row. Which is just 1 off of my PR for the amount of times that I ran identical times in a row.
Temperature was nowhere near PR conditions. Did it in only 54 degrees out. I need 90 degrees or hotter to get PRs. Wind was 15mph and below. So pretty much normal wind for me. I don't count anything over 20 mph. I wouldn't come anywhere near .75 even in 25-35mph winds over the past few years.
All of my previous calculations that I have done over the years on here are all adding up. I have been saying for years that I had done so much distance running and 400 meter dashes from 1993 till 2015 that I would slowly start building back everything that I should have had if I were a sprinter all of those years instead.
Something just wasn't adding up on why I was so slow in sprinting from 2015 till 2020. And I did research into why. It never occurred to me that it was because I trained like a distance runner and 400 runner my entire life basically. I never really made the connection on why until just about 2016 or so. But now every single calculation I have done is adding up. I said that I would gradually chip away at becoming faster the older I got since I didn't get into sprinting until 2015. This is getting crazy.
So in the past 4 months I have set a 20yd dash PR of 1.96 hand timed on November 25th, 2022, a vertical jump PR over the past month and now the 10yd dash PR.
And yeah this isn't a real .75. You have to add in .75 to .85 to any of my hand times to get a more accurate FAT. Like I said so many times on here that i'm only accurate within my own unique way of hand timing myself that I have been doing for so long. So I can only compare my times to other hand times. And I don't count times where I know that I started the clock late or stopped it early.
Also this is my overall best workout in this. I never ran so many .78s in one single workout. Usually on any given day it's tough for me to break .90 in this or get below .85. In 2017 when I first started the 10yd dashes, my best that year was 1.00. I couldn't break 1.00 the entire year. My average that year was 1.05 to 1.15 using the same exact way that I time myself now.
I just need to get this into the low .70s consistently and everything else should get faster. I'm still working on more speed jumps and speed lifts. If I can somehow increase my vertical another .25 of an inch I should be able to get down even lower in this. I'm really focusing in right now on increasing my vertical.
I mean no offense, but who does 10m time trials? Do you have a PR for the standing broad jump? Hey, I have no problem with people trying to better themselves, but come on man, can't you give us a 200/400 meter pr? 10m doesn't mean much to 5k/10k guys/gals.
By the way, your 10m start I'm assuming is out of blocks. What is your 40m split? Some runners can come out of the blocks like their hair is on fire. But the next 30m is the proof of the pudding. Tell us please what does your last 30m of 40m does your pudding watch have to say?
In recovery mode from distance running. Need to do these to get faster overall.
Ok so update is I just beat my previous 10 yard dash workout and tied my fastest time of .75.
But tied it with 1 to 2mph wind. But in warmer temps of 70 degrees.

The 8 by .78s is now the most of those that i've done in a workout. The .75 with no wind is now a .70 equivalent with the amount of wind that I did my previous tie of .75.
I'm doing this new thing of speed jumps at the gym with the hip squat belt machine. Seems to be working. Doing standing verticals this week to see where i'm at. I should be well over my previous PR of 26.5-28.5 inches. Which is weird seeing that i've been pretty much at that 26.5 to 28.5 level or below for something like 17 years. Don't know for sure.

Well, Tony Holler with his "Feed the Cats" sprint program seems to go in this direction.
