That's a solid explanation--initially I thought she'd go to Adam who would address the situation but it must have affected her to the point where maybe she compartmentalized it away, hoping to address it later and bring Al Sal to justice.
I haven't read the book but in her podcast she said she told members of her family before she told Adam. She said she compartmentalized the first time and/or thought it could be a mistake, so I don't know if she told anyone about that till the second time happened.
Makes sense she’d tell her family first. Her mom and sisters I assume. It would be tough to tell her husband about it because there’s that feeling of it being her fault. Plus Adam was in the cult….err circle. No telling how he’d react or who he’d believe.

I was a big Salazar fan reading of how he pushed himself and his workload. I still look at his xc training logs for inspiration, but the man he was as an adult is saddening, and that’s just me some young guy who viewed him as a running hero, can’t imagine what it was like for Kara who viewed him almost as a father figure.
I wish for Salazar’s truthful memoir of all the stuff he got away with and and an honest account of stuff he didn’t get away with.
if there was a Salazar docudrama cold case/running brave mini series, I’d watch it.
Salazar should never had gotten as far as he did. The very first athlete he coached as a professional was Mary Slaney, and she tested positive for testosterone within just a year or two of working with him. Nike should have canned him then and there, but instead they gave him the keys to the front door.
There is also no doubt that Salazar is a liar. In 2015, when questioned about his association with Slaney, he tried to claim he was really never her coach despite overwhelming evidence he was. He's also a first class jerk. He found the counsel that eventually represented Slaney in her lawsuit against the IAAF over her T/E test, then years later, throws her under the bus by denying he coached her in the 90's, implying he thought she had doped (why Slaney stood up for him in 2015 is baffling). If you would like to see the proof, here it is...
I haven't read Goucher's book yet (I will when it arrives on my doorstep tomorrow), but it's evident Nike is trash. Helping create Salazar, promoting Goucher's pregnancy while cutting her salary, doing nothing about doping,... Remember all that crap the next time you see one of Nike's virtue-signalling commercials (barf).
there is really no hope for boycotting companies for so called immoral behavior. I mean did it really take the salazar stuff to open your eyes? I mean everyone knows who and what nike is, shoot 50 years ago we all knew little kids were making there shoes, but some middle class white kids with college degrees making 6 figures while WILLINGLY staying with a coach who gave them drugs and sexually abused them is what got you thinking about Nike?
Between this and Matt Hart’s WIN AT ALL COSTS, it’s difficult to imagine anyone continuing to credibly defend Salazar, who comes off as a driven guy who accomplished remarkable things as an athlete unafraid to push himself, but also as an absolute undisciplined disaster as a special-projects coach working with an unlimited budget and no guardrails.
Defend him as a person? No.
Defending him as a coach? Absolutely.
He took Mo Farah from nothing to one of the all-time greats. He got Kara a medal. He got Rupp two medals. When is the last time an American man medalled in the 10,000? He had Hasay run 220-221. Now she can't even break 245.

The results were PHENOMENAL.
I will defend Alberto as a person. One issue that many of you could never begin to grasp is that the very reason Alberto was able to push himself to the brink of death was because he was a tortured soul from the very beginning, and if you cannot relate it might because you aren’t, because if you are, you might know that when he was pushing himself into realms of discomfort which the timid or complacent will never place their toes in, it was because it was a temporary reprieve from the anguish which was his incessant companion. Alberto does not believe he did anything outside of his moral code, the code is you use every weapon at your disposal to win. As far as the allegations of unsavory conduct in relation to a woman go, this is tame stuff folks, awkward groping while massaging an athlete, it is the stuff of a man who likely needed therapy from the age of 5 and then opted to wage war on the world in the only way he knew, and was a bull in a China shop when dealing with women. I would never judge the man unless I had been in his shoes and for those who do, watch your step…
This mental disorder includes an unreasonably high sense of importance, a need for excessive admiration, fragile self-esteem, and troubled relationships.
Like Trump (and Elon Musk), Salazar had a great desire to improve America. He wanted to make American Distance Running Great Again. What he did was try to work with all of the available resources that he felt were within the grey areas of enhancing performance. Compared to many groups in the world he was closer to the light than the dark than they were. His hypothesis: with the best resources in coaching, recovery, environment and supplements (all the way up to the line of infractions) his American athletes could compete with the East African elite even if they were doping. Also like Trump he wanted to have ultimate control of his athletes/political appointees like an employer/employee relationship in a business. This led Trump to some of the actions (and expectations of others) that threaten to lead to indictments. In some athletes Alberto did get total loyalty and they were made better by the experience. Some (mostly female) athletes were unable to give him total loyalty (and subservience) and suffered in their performances and personal lives because of his total commitment to peak performance. Politics and athletics are not the same as in a business environment where the business owner can demand total loyalty to achieve the best performances for the business.
No actual evidence of anything. Her word against his. Did she mention her fascination with Dr Brown? I believe after watching the Michigan State gymnastics thing she thiught she could cash in. They had 100 accusers. She has nobody else. I believe him more than her just by using common sense.

Some of us think coaches using exogenous thyroid hormones/drugs and other first-world PED opportunities are just as dark as using EPO. At least as dark if not darker.

That's just plain wrong. Grey?? He doped himself with testo, had his first star athlete banned for testo, gave Rupp as teenager testo medication, had Rupp and Farah on the short likely (blood-)doping list, and ultimately got banned for using a forbidden method, tampering and trafficking with/possession of testo. Testo testo testo... The lifetime ban for sexual abuse comes on top. Which current "many groups" could possibly be darker?

No proof he gave Rupp testo. He tested it on the kids to see if it was possible for others to sabotage Galen or Mo.
> Alberto does not believe he did anything outside of his moral code
Translation: Alberto has a horrific moral code
> the code is you use every weapon at your disposal to win
Translation: Alberto thinks doping is okay
> As far as the allegations of unsavory conduct in relation to a woman go, this is tame stuff folks
Translation: You're an apologizer for sexual assault
> it is the stuff of a man who likely needed therapy from the age of 5 and then opted to wage war on the world in the only way he knew
Translation: Alberto upgraded his problems into other peoples problems, again he is a horrific person

Hahahahahahahahahaha. Maybe move out of that glass house. I am attempting to understand Alberto but you would rather lynch him. But I know you are the better person.
Another Alberto fan boy looking for a reason to justify sexual assault
The thing I don't really understand is that she didn't complain/tell after the first incident. Kept getting massages. Then it happened. Still no police reports, allegations, etc. Only now - once the gravy train of running has slowed - are the allegations coming out.
Not saying it happened or didn't happen. It's just odd to me.
Because sexual assault takes a severe psychological toll and you don't have clear perspective. Especially when the perpetrator is in a position of power over you, your mind will jump through hoops to rationalize it and come up with some reason why it wasn't sexual assault.
I was sexually assaulted and it took me almost eight years to finally admit to myself what it was. Kara said as well that she rationalized it by telling herself that he massaged Galen and Adam frequently and that she was definitely overthinking it, only to realize later on how sick he actually is.

Wow you're really jumping to support a sociopathic narcissist.

If people are not children or disabled and they don’t know for years or whatever whether they’ve been sexually assaulted the alleged perpetrator should probably not be convicted.
