Nore from Rojo on 3/4/23: I don't have time to read through 9 pages of gossip/innuendo, but did want to let everyone know I asked a college coach on Thursday if Parker Valby was in the portal. He said she was not.
Tuohy was essentially recovering from her injury and surgery and getting back to peak form for the first 1.5 years she was in college. She ran a 4:33.87 mile in 2018 in high school (high school record). Then, 5 years later, she drops that time in the mile to 4:24.26 (collegiate record).
Is it really that "unbelievable" for the high school mile record holder to drop her time by 10 seconds, over the course of 5 years, and set the collegiate record? Would that really require some sort of "miracle" or the use of PEDs? I think not.
The process starts with the athlete asking the compliance officer to add them to the portal.
The current coach knows about it before any other coach.
You're so innocent.
Many runners put out feelers to coaches at other schools BEFORE they tell their current schools they are going into the transfer portal.
How? They use an intermediary. Someone such as their old high school coach, or their parents, or a trusted friend, calls around to see what other schools are interested, have a roster spot, an available scholarship, etc.

Didn’t she run like 4:06 in the 1500 outdoors
Your point? A 4:06 1500 m converts to about a 4:26 mile. So she's slightly improved in the mile (based on the times she's run over the last month or so), from the 1500 she ran last spring. That seems like a natural progression. Not extreme.

If an athlete does this who cares. They don't have to stay. Why would you want an athlete that doesn't want to be at your school or even worse run for you.
Let them go and move on and focus on athletes that want to be there
