I heard a discussion on a podcast about this very topic and how going to the well isn’t always a good thing and could actually shorten one’s career. Not sure my stance, but cant argue that he seemed to channel his inner Ritz in that one.
The hosts went on to question whether Jim Ryun would have it in him to push that hard in his upcoming bid for history and, after much back and forth, agreed that the Ritz trained, super spike wearing, 75 year old miler likely would have the muscle memory to go to the well, but only after a few rust busters due to his 50 year layoff from competitive racing.
Excited for the comeback races and to see him loping around the BU track soon.
