I would not be completely shocked if she runs fast and I hope she does, but being honest with myself and logic says she probably won't make the finals.
How many make the final? Even if she doesn't break 7.2 but goes under 7.3 i think she can make it. 13 athletes. So I'm guessing she needs to be top 6 or top 8. I'd take her over Celera Barnes, Candace Hill, Anthonique Strachan, Kendra Harrison, possibly Kiara Parker, possibly Cambrea Sturgis. So just barely squeak by. I think New Balance would want their premier athlete to make the final and run on live TV. I don't think the prelims will be televised on NBC.
You're missing one very important thing. Sydney doesn't want to run at this meet. She's only there because she is forced by her sponsor New Balance to be there.
Do you think Sydney really wants to make the finals and have to run twice? No, she doesn't.
Has she explicitly said it? Or are you assuming for her? I do understand if she does not want to run a pointless indoor meet and says she tweaked something or doesn't go all out. She last ran an indoor meet 2 years ago where she purposely ran the 60mhs with her nondominant leg leading and before that in 2019 the 500m dash where she easily won. So it's likely at the very least she'll be there to interact with fans.
On another note she just had a cool sportscenter commercial
I can't imagine NB not having their marquee athlete in the televised portion of the meet. With that said, everyone in the 60m appears to be capable of running at least 7.2 mid or better. If they only take 6 to the finals, she is in trouble, if it is 8, she has a better chance. Btw, Cambrea Sturgis has a 10.87 100m PR; she is one of the fastest in the field. I am having trouble understanding how/why Sydney chose to enter an event against some of best in the world having not run the event since high school.

Simple. Sydney doesn't want to run in this meet, but she is forced to by her sponsor New Balance, and so she is taking the easiest way out by running the shortest distance possible. Yes, really.
Note the other 2 meets you mention were also this same meet, the contractually obligated new balance indoor meet. The 500 and wrong leg60h were other ways to have a low risk performance in a meet she really doesn't want to run. They use her visit for meet and greets with VIPs and leading salespeople/clients, and perhaps a photo shoot. This year NB dedicates/opens the new indoor track.
She ran 8.17 in the 60mH seven years ago. She has run 22.68/50.07 in the 400m, but a 48 carry and a 50.xx 400MH wr show considerable speed development since then. 12.65 is her 100mH best. Her start will not be fantastic, but I think she can run 7.18.
I will wager that they have a top three to finals LOL. Kidding. I still do not get this effort..unless it is a mandatory appearance , which it is ..like her DMR leg when first signed, I believe. The thing the sport is lacking is a Mu, Sydney matchup at like 500 or 600. Mu can carry sub 50, and a really good IH'er should be able to stretch to 500 or 600.
People never get what might generate real interest. McLaughlin would or should be able to go by a 400 in 53 flat to 55 flat and get in from there ..it is a WR surely to happen..in my nutsie world. These would be the compelling match ups..not a 60..no one thinks she can win.
It's a sleep show with her at 60M and few get it apparently. And look..I know Kersse know more than Me..name 3 other stars he gas coached..now eb help.
7.20 is very good for a 60m. I hope she goes under. As a betting man, I would say too close to call, but for the hell of it I think No but hope I am wrong.
You guys complain when they don’t compete and complain when they do apparently. The endless contradiction that is let’s run
Not really, what people in the real world ,really want are really compelling races..this is not and is nothing more than than a box checker contractual thing

Sydney doesn't care what a good matchup is, she doesn't care what generates interest, and she doesn't care what fans think is compelling.
She DOES care about the money that New Balance pays her so she is going to make an appearance at the meet. That's all this is for her - a contractual obligation.
it will be a serious run. A good 60m time tells you about your sprint time potential, including 400m. It makes sense for any sprinter to improve their 60m.
She has no interest in indoors and no interest in the 60m.
So call it. What's your prediction? We'll find out soon.
I think if she seriously tried she could probably run 7.18.
But I am not convinced that she will seriously try. She doesn't want to qualify for the final and have to run again. Plus she doesn't care what her 60m PB is because it's not important for a 400 specialist.
