Well imma drop this here before I give my little deep dive
idk much about vigil, he likes his mile repeats though
on Daniels v magness, I don’t think his books really go all into how he’d train. It’s gotta be a little cookie cutter. Anyways, firstly magness I think puts more emphasis on speed year round, especially with the alactic stuff, where Daniels repeats are a little less frequent and a little longer and more energy consuming. They use different paces. That’s something you can find pretty quickly. Magness uses more LT work I think, but probably does a few more ball buster workouts. Daniels has never really been great for specific mile stuff. Again I’m not saying he can’t coach milers, but the books not great for milers. Daniels is obviously pro pick your own mileage, but magness def likes his high volume stuff. Magness likes changing the pace and rest of a workout, kind of like Webb/razko did. He’s also a big fan of going from general to specific ala canova. And he’s real into the mental stuff, just check his Twitter I like what magness does, but he’s no genius, he’s quite good at picking out other peoples stuff, he’s not revolutionary with his stuff. While I would follow more of what Steve does, I should say JD pushed the sport farther forwards. He’s actually got a decent amount of posts on letsrun from years past, I think under jtupper. Besides the old link I posted it’s hard to get the whole story from magness, he posts a lot of stuff, but I don’t see a ton of real specific details all the time. Just he likes this or doesn’t like that
