Seems inevitable that Washington men could smash the DMR record if they wanted to. 9:20 is a phenomenal time, but they are loaded. What are your predictions as to what they could run if they were to really go for it?
My ideal lineup for them as of now and their most notable current sb's:
Waskom (2:18 1k), Birchman (47.7), Cass (1:47.2), Fay (3:52.0)
Prediction in an ideal world-- 2:48, 47.0, 1:46.5, 3:52 (1600 split but very hard to replicate that perfect mile when solo). Total time--9:14ish. While this is unlikely since it's hard to do solo, I think these guys can physically run these times. In a normal race, they can still smash the record since they physically should be able to run pretty close to these splits. I have a lot of faith in Waskom, he looks like US 1500 star (not a hot take anymore) who is a gamer.
Also, does anyone compete with them? Iowa St has some great 800 guys. Ole Miss always a stellar mid d program, any word on Cade Flatt also? That could be a killer DMR if he's on it and if he's similar to what he was in hs. OK State has some great milers. Tennessee has two DMR champions from different teams and while Jacobs seems focused on the 5k, him and Abdalla could make a killer opener and closer.
