African runners are notorious for lying about ages! Add 2 years for most African runners
Top 10 all time u21 indoor mile
Top 20 all time u21 1500/mile non African runners
Not bad for someone who has been training for 5k mostly!
Riigghhtt. No Soviet era eastern bloc athletes doped. And Kenya was not thisclose from being banned and should have been. :)
Tuohy is not under 21 according to how these categories are handled.
Which other country besides maybe the UK has better options, better benefits (like getting into a top university for athletic prowess), better high level training groups, better professional options than the US?
The other way round seems closer to the truth. There are good reasons why many athletes from all over the world try to get to US college athletics or sometimes later as professionals.
^^Apparently when you have run the ~200th best all time mile and ~50th best indoor mile of ALL TIME, you are "not close" to world class.
But, if you've run the 66th fastest 800, you are? Where exactly is the cutoff?
It has nothing to do with all time lists. Was Jesse Owens world class? How about Pre? World class means you are one of the best in the world at that time. Clearly, making a world final or competing in diamond league would be 2 metrics. Going a bit lower to make a US team may be world class to some. But anything less, no way. Nobody, not even the handful of over the top Tuohy fans would try to calim that she is world class but woukd agree that the other two runners are.
Add 2 years to under 20 African runners.
Years later when they are dominating masters races, subtract 2 years
So true.
Rojo and Gault didn't sound amused talking about Katelyn Tuohy's record-breaking run. It sound like they were forced to talk about it.
To make themselves feel better about the fact that Tuohy ran 4:24 and Valby ran 4:35. They made a thread about Tuohy, Mu and Hodgkinson. Just to be petty. They know people would say Tuohy is not in the same level and that both Mu and Hodgkinson are world class runners.
AHHAHAHAH
who cares if you dont think katelyn is world class, theres only less than 5 american 5000m runners thats good enough to be called world class 😂😂 obviously the competition is much higher in the distance than the 800m
she'll get there, and were not in a rush ~ i would rather watch katelyn's cross country races than boring 800m races
Great comment. Maybe so good it needs its own thread.
mu only runs 800 and sometimes 600
tuohy runs 1500, mile, 3000, 5000, 5k, 6k
😬😬😬 distance is way better than 800m
i really dont care if mu is elite whatsoever, id rather watch a cross country race ... athing mu cant even beat katelyn at the mile nor 1500m, shes only good at 1-2 events, and an event without ethiopians
lol dont come at american distance runners
they took it down probably coz its true
The 800 will always be a stronger event than the 5000. Go to a college track meet and see how many competitors are in both events. The 800 is the sweet spot where speed and endurance meet.
This is the most extreme of hateful comments you have ever made. MU is a gold medalist and you are diminishing her performance? Yet you lose it when people point out little Tuohy is merely a good college runner?
Actually, I think Mu has gold medals in 2 events. Tuohy isn't close to making a US team. This is a ridiculous post you made.
i dont care about her gold medal, couldnt care less about 800m ... its such a boring event ...
i mean, no american has a gold medal at 5000m 😂
Tuohy is not a medal or final contender (yet) but good enough for extended world class in the sense that she'd have a good chance to get the qualifying mark for an Olympics/World championships. Because of supershoes and whatever these qualifiers were made much tougher but Tuohy's times of last season would have been good enough to qualify for the 2016 Rio Olympics: 4:06 15:14, Rio standards were 4:07 15:24, if she had run for a country without 3 better runners. E.g. 19 yo Koko ran in Rio and got into the 1500m semifinal with an SB of 4:06.9.
