Going toe to toe with Chelimo (7:31 3k, slightly lower than 12:51 on Iaaf scoring tables) for a 2:28 last 1k in the Olympic Trials seems like a good start. That's 12:22 pace in a championship setting.
A 2:28 last 1k isn’t getting it done on the world stage. And just for the sake of accuracy, Chelimo’s 3k is 1229 points while Kincaid’s 5k is 1295 (in other words, not close).
Based on his performance history, 12:51 came out of nowhere. Any athlete with a similar resume would never be expected to run that fast. Get over it.

Where are you getting your IAAF points from? I'm looking at 7:31 vs 12:51 and it is a 7-10 pt difference, not the 70 pt difference you are claiming.
You're only saying that because it's a "white boy", huh? Your fragile racist ego has been destroyed seeing him set the new record, now you are on suicide watch coping and seething. If he were East African you'd be cheering him on, no doubt

You are mixing indoor and outdoor scores. Look on Kincaid’s World Athletics profile and you’ll see his 12:51.61 is worth 1295 points. Even using the outdoor score (1241), your point would still be wrong, as it equates to 7:29.7, much stronger than Chelimo’s 7:31.57.
Amazing how little people know about how talented Woody is...
- Colorado state champ
- Broke Galen Rupp's freshmen record at Dellinger XC (24 flat?)
- Outkicked Galen Rupp just after his senior track season at Portland Track Festival (arguably the race that got him practically a walk on spot at BTC)
Whether you want to believe it or not, Woody didn't run more than 200 miles in a month until his senior year of college. The guy was more like Bill Walton than Bob Kennedy. Tried to walk to the Oregon Coast from Portland before getting half way and then deciding it was a bad idea and turning around. Stuff like that was common.
Woody is simply the example of someone with massive talent finally getting his stuff together after college and becoming the best in his field. Steph Curry, Tom Brady, the list goes on. The best teenagers rarely become the best adults.
Let's break this down:
-Colorado state champion: Who the f cares.
-Broke Galen Rupp's freshman XC course record: again, who the f cares.
-Outkicked Galen Rupp in a race: who. the. f. cares.
If Kincaid had real talent, it would have shown up in a real race result at some point in time in his career. Who cares if he was "undertrained" as a kid. Next you're going to say he only learned to walk when he was 15, right?
The fact that you are comparing Woody Kincaid's late blooming talent to Steph Curry and Tom Brady is completely laughable.
I mean Woody has transparently stunk it up overseas, but his domestic performances have been quite good. Bowerman raced so little overseas until last year, it’s a small sample size.
Whats probably being lost here is 12:51 at BU probably doesn’t mean what you think it does. Line up Barega, Aregawi, Cheptegei Jakob, Kiplimo, Krop, Kipkorir Kimeli and Fisher at BU with a pacer taking them through 4K in 12:45 pace. I suspect all of them finish closer to 12:35 than 12:51.

It'd be a lot easier to accept that BU is a rocket-fueled trampoline if Fisher didn't back up his 12:53 last year with 26:33 and 12:46. No doubt BU is fast but 12:51 is absurd.
I guess the question is what could the other 10 or so people in front of him at the Olympics have done had they raced bu. Grant probably could have run 12:45 yesterday. Suddenly woody’s 12:51 is put into context.
Its the shoes and track. No way EVERYONE is doping. These are regular people. To think everyone goes to the dark side is just plain old stupid.
Not saying people don’t. But think it’s a minority, not majority. Why dope when you she shoes and tracks doing it for you. Look at ncaa and high school times. Are they all doping too? Everyone is just faster now.
Biggest knock on btc is Shelby and Jager. The Jager thing I still haven’t gotten my head around.

Sucker punch was a good name given your post was a bit of cheap shot. I’ve been critical of Kincaid in this thread and it’s no secret I find his recent performance highly unlikely, but he isn’t some no-talent hack like you’re saying. He’s had modest success domestically, just nothing that would indicate he’d be capable of an all-time great performance like 12:51.
It’s a bit ridiculous seeing people act like that American record was a predictable outcome for him, but I don’t think we need to crap all over the guy.

Regular people don't run 12:51. The only reason you're saying Grant could run 12:45 is because Woody ran 12:51 and you think Grant is better than him. That would be a world record by 4 seconds, no small feat even if BU is a clown track.
Does it really matter anymore??? If a guy can full on boldly lie about his identity and get into Congress and on top committees, who the hell cares about some struggling runner doping to get a record. That kick was a full on Dieter Bramann job - give me a frick’in break! The sport is trash running trash records- ya all can F - off!
You're missing the point. Every professional runner has talent and some degree of domestic success. But not every professional runner has the #4 all time world indoor 5k mark. The question is, does Kincaid's talent and pedigree match up to the other world class runners on that list? Not the average US professional runner, but other world class runners. The answer is clearly no. So in that sense, he is a no-talent hack.
Kincaid ran 12:58 outdoors, outkicking Lomong and Centro, years ago. He's a famously good closer for an American distance runner. He just didn't put it all together until now because of frequent injuries. A year and a half ago, in 2021 at the Olympic 10000m trials, he was behind Grant Fisher with a lap to go and broke away from him in the last 100m, closing the last 200m around 25.7. Kara Goucher says on the last lap that he is known for his vicious kick.
It'd be a lot easier to accept that BU is a rocket-fueled trampoline if Fisher didn't back up his 12:53 last year with 26:33 and 12:46. No doubt BU is fast but 12:51 is absurd.
Well Woody got worse as the season went on last year unlike Grant. Recall he ran 13:05 with a 26.4 last lap after Jerry bizarrely put him in the slow heat. His next best performance was at USAs which might’ve been slightly superior with it being hot, but only marginally so. So I’m not sure why there’d be any guarantee he’ll improve in fitness or replicate/improve the times. BU is very fast and many athletes nowadays are capable of 12:35-40 in perfect conditions. There’s a reason why Getnet Wale goes under 7:25 indoors, Barega runs 7:26 etc. The US is pretty much the only country where athletes race the 5,000 indoors. So indoors is fast, BU is the fastest indoor track and thus US guys who race the 5,000 will put up eye-popping times.
Thanks to whoever posted the link to the podcast from 2021. I wanted to like Woody after Gault's interview with him on Friday, but man, hearing that podcast snippet was brutal. (Thanks for posting it, whoever did it.) Not only did Woody say, unequivocally, that Shelby is "100% innocent," he also said, "What is WADA trying to accomplish by busting a clean athlete?" Promoting a wild conspiracy theory is never a good look. And she tested positive for synthetic nandrolone, dude! Are you really "100 percent" sure she's innocent? That really gives me pause and makes me sad. And seeing the podcaster/interviewer nodding vigorously as Woody says these things is just embarrassing.
He also posted the most vehement defense of her on instagram.
Woody's background the kind of rags to riches story, his horrible form, this defense, the 12:51 and the Gault interview just don't add up. He's a cheat.
