Dude, a 4:06 1500m is equivalent to a 4:29mile, NOT a 4:25.
4:06 x1.08 gives 4:25.7 But as one can see from earlier seasons runners in january are usually a bit slower than their best outdoor 1500/mile. There are exceptions, e.g. Purrier had not run as fast before when she got that indoor record 3 years ago but in general 4:28-29 indoor in January would be very good for a 4:06 runner
48:46. Checkmate!!! 2 ND runners break away, tuohy waits a few seconds and then chases!!!
And OMG the rest of the pack does not follow, but stays as a pack!!!
BUT YOU DIDN'T CHECKMATE ANYONE😂
this was the first time katelyn faced runners who takes off from the gun, she went with them leaving her teammates, but she kept looking back at them .. it was obvious that nc state didnt discuss about this, no one expected 2 ND runners going blazing fast from the gun, dropping the field in the first 500m, but in the 3k mark they started to fade and the rest of the pack caught up, kelsey caught up and at 4k mark, that was when katelyn and her started surging, like how they used to run as a team
they won but you know what happened??? THEY ALMOST LOST TO NOTRE DAME !!!!
at regionals , no one started off fast, and katelyn only surged at the later part of the race like they always does and won the race easily a head of any teams
at nationals, someone surged off fast but katelyn never went with her, stayed with the pack and only surged later part of the race like they always does, she won and the team won the race with a bigger lead compared to ACC when katelyn went with the ND runners
Katelyn and coach henes learned that even if she wasnt in the lead, she controls the race!! and that her every move affects her team and the race!!
and that is ladies and gentlemen why katelyn didnt go with valby, they know what would happen if katelyn goes with the leaders so early in the race, it affects their race, it was already proven by the ACC race on the similarly hilly panorama farms
How come no one went with tuohy when she made her move at 3.5k
uhh but they actually went with her, at 3.8k the chase pack was right behind tuohy, and when they were going on the uphill, it was where katelyn separated herself, girl was too fast on the hills and dropped everyone, she ran 2:56 kilometer there

I am curious what you would think if hypothetically Tuohy turned out to be a 4:03 runner this Spring? Odds better for 4:26 or 27 now? I suspect she is more aerobically fit now than she was in May. This is a serious question I am seeking an opinion on.

Not sure, but I agree that odds are better (and I also think they got better because she is in a better race now). Of course such a young runner can improve a few seconds in winter compared to the summer before.
E.g. Klosterhalfen (* Feb 18th 1997)
2015 4:09.58 2016i 4:08.38
2016 4:06.91 2017i 4:04.45
Nevertheless, the lists show that even 4:00-04 professionals often don't run faster indoor miles than 4:26-27 in well paced races like Millrose.
I was wrong! But it's not my fault tuohy was controlling my responses! Now she's controlling me to write this!
Lol.
I have not read through all the responses but Cook seemed to indicate in her post NCAA interview when asked about if she was surprised no one went w/ Valby that Tuohy didn't go so "I guess we are packing up". The runners are going to follow the coach's strategy so maybe some of the leads were told to key off Tuohy, no one really knows though. It's all guessing.
I was surprised that no one other than Olemomoi tried to go with Tuohy for the chase, but the pace for the chase pack did pick up a lot at that point.
However for ACCs different story. Notre dame took it out hard. And that was a surprise.
