You must have had a three Martini lunch. There were 48 U.S. states through January 2nd, 1959. By September, 1959, 50 states, U.S.
Funny about the Dakotas.
North Dakota was Fargo. Once was more than enough.
South Dakota, however, besides Mt Rushmore and the Indian Head, in Rapid City it was a run that I often remember. Besides the drink injuns, I found this nice dirt/cinder trail that meanders throughout town towards the hills outside of. I went for about 9 miles and thoroughly enjoyed that run. So I would discount some parts of South Dakota. Just my opinion though.
You need to do an image search for "Badlands National Park." SD has incredible scenery.
