It’s a shame. He is really good for the sport here in Australia. People really got around him during the olympics and comm games.
does anyone who knows any more about drug tests than me know what the chances of a false positive might be? I want to believe but damn
As far as I know there's never been a false positive in history for EPO... except Lagat
Bernard 3:26 Lagat, and Marion BALCO Jones. I think Jones actually won compensation. Lagat tried to sue the IAAF and was told where to go ('Now you're being greedy' was probably Diack's private reply to him).
I believe there have been a couple of cyclists return 'false' A sample positives, both of whom later tested positive (both samples) and were banned. So out of the hundreds of thousands of EPO tests in sport in the last 30 years, the only individual to be cleared and not subsequently busted, is Bernard 3:26 Clean As American Apple Pie Lagat.
These days most athletes take drugs because olympic and world qualification standards are just way too high. Its nearly impossible to get an olympic A standard in most events, unless athletes dope.Thats the real reason they dope. Its beyond the reach of natural athletes.
nonsense. anyone can still qualify on points. no doping required, just racing. it makes a nice change from the Bowerman style of one time trial then disappear for the rest of the season.
Isn't his 800m progression just like .5 second (if at all!) a year for the last five years? That doesn't seem too weird. He's only 1.4 seconds faster than he was 7 years ago.
I don't see a weird "jump" in his abilities. If anything, the weird thing is how long he was just "very good" without really breaking through to some "next level." Wasn't our local boy, Nick Symmonds a 1:42.9 runner? Even with the purported EPO use, Bol wasn't sniffing a time like that at any point, right?
Yep, but why would he not take it when it matters, and not when it doesn't. What is the benefit of taking it now...serious question, not casting doubt.
Who’s to say, but EPO use can benefit you in pretty much any time as a distance runner. Base-building etc. He could use it through January taper off it as competitions/tests loomed. Resume it March-May etc.
Secondarily, is it not more weird that his values would be out of whack when he’s not supposedly training hard. Don’t a lot of suspicious values (that get explained) occurr after hard training/altitude? Weird he’s getting it after sitting on the beach. Like the Shelby “I didn’t even finish the burrito” addendum I’m not sure the explanation helps the argument.
Yes I thought people take in off-season due to training benefits? And also less likely to be tested?
surprised by Telford’s comments both around the timing, the 800m and the side effects. That’s not my understanding
Lie detector is a bad look. Big Lisa Vanderpump (of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills fame) energy. AFAIK they're pretty flawed to begin with, even more so when you know what questions, or type of questions, you'll be asked.
Now it has been announced in Auatralian Media that he will do a lie detector test to clear his name
What is this, Maury? Didn't Houlihan pull this same stunt? Why do westerners have the need to perform for peanut gallery? He's going to have to generate a certain quantity of tears on TV, won't he? Does he really believe he'll change any minds?
As much as I personally like Peter Bol and think, based solely on my own impressions of the guy, there could've been some kind of mistake or accident (because they do occur), I can't see him explaining his way out of this one. Somebody wanted him out of the way so I suggest he applies himself to uncovering that person's motive.

Big Thanks to Shelby Shelbs,
Her selfish lies opened the door for legitimacy to question every blatant doping violation. She's guilty, and so is he, but since the white liberal running media failed to check the very bias they stand on a soap box and criticize others of to doing, they have to give legitimacy to every obvious violation.

EPO? A false EPO positive? Absolutely spare me.
Shelby was not the first doper, you're making it sound like she was though.
Lagat is a prime example of this "false EPO positive" you speak of. Believe it or not it's been "accepted" before

She was the first doper in recent memory who was banned, who lost an appeal, and who's story was widely reported as a "tragedy" by the media, and was given the benefit of the doubt by them too.
Sorry if I don't recall this really happening to anyone previous to her.
Before Shelby dopers serving bans were dismissed.
Post Shelby, all the question marks around "the system" arose.
Even in the Ajee Wilson case where she was able to PROVE that her positive came from tainted meat, no one questioned the "system" afterwards. People were just like, wow, that's cray, what's in our meat ehh?
