Any chance Ryun's U20 2-mile record goes down this outdoor season?
I'd say no chance. It's a combination of a very solid time for that age and nobody running that distance past high school.
High schoolers are too weak (Even the best in recent years can't break 8:29 and they have to run 8:25? no way), college freshman sophomores are running either 3000m or 5000m, and nobody international would touch the distance unless they are paid.
Very few have taken solid shots at the 2mile record recently. The NP kids have run some fast 3ks but I don't think any of them were in 2 mile races that go out in 4:16. That's starting to get fast🤣
If you're that fast why go to Oregon instead of Stanford or another top school?
why would a fast high school runner want to go to OREGON??? huh??? You mean one of the top collegiate running programs w direct links to nike & fine/good academically?? where do these bozos come from? lmao.

I think he was asking specifically about HS'rs [ in which he case he appears to presumptuously and breezily assuming some will sail past LV's 8:29. Don't bet on it]
About Ryun what you say is partly/ mostly true. However even if one combines 3000m conversion times with actual 2 mile times Ryun is still #1 US Jr all time. [ German came very close to beating it. Rupp a few seconds off]. So college kids do run 3k's and still can't eclipse Ryun. So it has much more to do with the quality of the time then the lack of opportunities to race the distance.
How truly amazing is it that 56 years after Ryun set his US Junior records in the three events of [ combining actual times and converted times] 800/880, 1500/mile, 3000/2mile that only a SINGLE solitary US junior [Donovan brazier in the 800] has been able to beat any of his three records. Astonishing!

What’s even more crazy is some random Nederland 17 years old junior in Highschool broke the 800m HS record AND the 3000m record. He equaled Ryun’s u20 record which he set when he was two years older than the kid.
Smart kids only go to the 3rd one, or maybe H/P if they’re on the east coast. The ones you listed before are for average students.
The school snobbery on this site is pretty ridiculous. Lots of factors go into picking the school that is the best fit. Going to the highest ranked school you can get into is rarely the right choice for a specific kid. Besides, the choice of grad school is far important for top students. Undergrad just needs to be good enough to preserve the grad school options while keeping the debt down.
It's a fine school lol. and being on the xc/track team will open plenty of doors anyway. I can't take anyone seriously who thinks Oregon is a bad place for a good runner, it's a mindbogglingly stupid opinion

it's so stupid lol. i'm sure they are on the football boards making fun of good football players for going to oklahoma or alabama, lol. i went to a "top school" and couldn't care less about this nonsense. oregon/nau are amazing places for good runners
Most kids go to schools that they can get into. Football players at Alabama are generally not smart kids and all think they are going to the NFL. Heidesch picked Duke. Burns picked Oregon.
Burns/Noah Breker/Jackson Heidesch/Wyatt Haughton in the 2 mile
Hunter Jones the top seed in the mile
Thanks for posting this dude, I hadn't see the entries yet. The race is way more stacked than I had thought! I see Hunter Jones is doubling and doing the 1 mile also.
Plus we get to see Tatum David on the girls side double the mile/2 mile. Her PRs from last year are 4:42 / 10:04!

why shouldn’t i assume LV’s record could be broken? 5 high schoolers broke 4 last year and there could probably be more this year. 8:29 is a solid time but when you have that number of guys running at that caliber it is more than reasonable to say it could be broken.
maybe they're good schools for running, but they're terrible to start a career from
there are just about ~10-15 schools that place well into elite jobs
what are you talking about? do you know how many people start careers from state schools? You think the workforce is made up of ppl from only those 10-15 schools? lol. ppl like you are the ones with 6 figures in student debt whining about nobody is hiring journalists while the chad who went to Arkansas is making 6 figures and loving life.
there's more to life & a career than the latest us news rankings, sorry.
