Has he raced at all? It is a sort of reasonable goal for anyone who has run sub 4:05/8:05 last year. But we are still talking about a pretty solid time...

Also, it states that Burns was the first American 11th grader to break 4, when in fact Ryun did it in 1964. 4:15-16 seems pretty aggressive but obviously he knows better than we do what kind of shape he’s in. Would be cool to see him shatter the record.

4:15 is a brutal pace. I say he runs #3 all time.

Ten seconds slower than LV's outdoor record

His recent workouts have been ridiculous. 80 mpw. Double workout days. Ten mile tempos close to 5 min pace. The kid wants it.

He has committed to Oregon.

I've run under 4:00 for the 3/4 full mile.

He was the second, Birnbaum was the thirrd. Both are headed to Oregon

His dad coached karissa and some other good runners and mizzou. I’m sure he’s coaching his kid and knows what’s he’s doing.

He’s got an incredible foundation to hit the ground running with the training at Oregon and will flourish there.

People need to give up the tired old “don’t train hard before college” bit.
