You just have to commit. I committed to 30 days in April 2021. No meetings, no excuses, no celebratory champagne or beer with friends.
After a few weeks in, I realized that I needed to stop indefinitely. I had a lot of fun with alcohol and it may have even helped my career in some aspects of entertaining, but the bad parts far outweighed the good.
Now I’m into my 21st month of no booze and I really don’t miss it. I have better sleep, more energy and lost 15 pounds. Running better than I have since my early 30s.
If you feel like you need a 30 day break, you likely drink too much, I know I did.
Try to stay away from bars and don’t keep alcohol in the house at first. After a while, you can pour drinks for friends and not be tempted.
Just commit. You can do it.
