Sad about this one. Spent some time in Oregon & would see him running every now & then. Always said hello. Always gave some motivation or something. Just seemed like a genuine dude.
A cheater is afforded no such luxury. You think he will tell us he cheated but didn't compete at all. F him.
You are not very bright. These guys are not cheating. They are leveling the playing field.
I should not have said you are not very bright. I did that because I was beyond irritated when you said “F him.” What I see is fans who want great performances and then they also want the athletes clean. Well it appears you cannot usually have both. So the faux outrage when people get busted just seems absurd. It is like a politician is telling a lie and people are acting like this is something unforeseen or offensive to one’s sensibilities. It seems par for the course.
Jesus dude, he cheated people out of an Olympic team spot.
1. Bernard Lagat - shady asf
2. Hassan Mead - popped
3. Paul Chelimo - magically tapers for the trials every year
4. Eric Jenkins - probably clean, he was good in college and as an early pro, his current results lead me to believe he’s clean
5. Ben True - clean
6. Ryan Hill - probably clean
What an garbage post.
Do you not think that Lagat, Chelimo and Mead were "good in college" / at ages 18-22??
Dude, leaving Chelimo/mead out of it (one of whom just tested positive), there is no way Bernard lagat was clean. Absolutely no way. Not with what we’re finding out these days.

OK but is there some reason you just assume whites are clean? Is there a reason for this? Please explain this.
What was the level of the substances found? When I saw 'ostarine', I immediately thought undeclared ingredient in a supplement, and hence, unintentional ingestion. Of course, an athlete who's getting old for the sport and has declined for years has an incentive to cheat but also may just have gotten busted for taking a supposedly clean supplement in a vitamin store. As for what it does, it improves lean muscle mass by acting on an androgen receptor, similar to steroids. The site I am looking at says that it has become a popular steroid alternative among body-builders and athletes because it has steroid-like positive effects without the negative effects of steroids.
There's this: Does ostarine actually help with running fast? There should be witnesses about whether Mead's been doing nothing but lifting since June. And they should link the drink.
Statement via Hassan Mead’s agent regarding USADA’s three-year ban for an anti-doping rule violation.
Where are people seeing that he was retiring, aside from the above press release?
Heard from Hassan in April that he was going to retire, his last race was in May. He hadn’t been training at all since then and was retired by all accounts besides filing the necessary papers, which he clearly should’ve done earlier as he had no intention of competing again.
Had not seen him in a few years. Ran into him in street clothes at Worlds in July and he told me he was already retired

Gonna stick up for Hassan here, he has been retired for months. Has had a clean test since & ten clean years in the testing pool. He has zero interest in returning to the sport to race. Fault was not informing USADA of his retirement sooner. Tough way to watch a good guy go out. https://t.co/mIC7Ak6MKb
If he's been retired for months, why wouldn't he take himself out of the testing pool? Isn't it a pain to always input your whereabouts? Was he leaving open the possibility he may want to come back, like it was a break?

If (according to this linked twitter post) he retired over the summer, had yet to complete the paperwork, began lifting and taking a readily available supplement, why not hide from the tester take a whereabouts violation?
Stop trying to spit shine a turd. He’s a banned for using drugs. He’s a professional athlete and has been for a decade. He knows the process. The likely scenario is when faced with the reality of finding a job after a decade of being of “professional“ runner, he’s realized he’s not qualified for anything and try’s to a last ditch effort for another year running.
