The shooter actually has a lot in common with you. He was always telling people about how afraid he was about the government and how they were watching him. He sounds like a paranoid freak….like you.
Do you know how many children grapes and hot dogs kill every year??
Gotta ban them too.
House pets kills more children than school shootings every single year as long as records have been kept. We need to ban pets too.

More insults! Yay!
The shooter was an emotional clown who didn't have an effective way to channel his emotions because he was stupid.
You're ignoring 90+ more deadly things and focusing on guns for some reason.
If you wanted to save lives you would be virtue signaling about banning alcohol or refined carbohyrdates not guns.
Guns are inanimate objects. Guns aren't responsible for anything.
The guy at Wal-Mart didn't kill a bunch people because he had a gun he killed a bunch of people because he was an @sshole.
Alcohol kills more people than guns by a factor of about 10.
Using your logic alcohol should be banned immediately and anyone who protests is a monster who wants people to die.
If the perpetrator bulldozed over a bunch of people in the parking lot, or stabbed his victims to death, the libs wouldn't be making threads about the weapon he used. If the perpetrator was a straight, white, Republican male, they wouldn't be calling others hateful for pointing out his identity. They don't care about death or "hate," it's just about scoring political points.
If people really gave a sh!t about preventing these mass killings, they would be talking about the various social factors which lead to them. Nobody wants to talk about the hypercompetitive, isolated, consumeristic society we live in which drives those who at the bottom of the hierarchy (and may also have neural predispositions towards aggression) towards acts of violence. If you take one look at the people committing these shootings, you can tell they're almost always lonely, alienated individuals (perhaps for good reason, though) with a history of mental illness and/or trauma. Yet all people want to talk about is superficial gun laws, it's just stupid.
No I am more than willing to talk about you hypocrites mentioning mental health because you cower before the NRA. As soon as it is time it spend money on mental health you hypocrites start whining about how it is a liberal wasting your tax contribution. Go fucc yourself with your dishonesty.

By the way I am a little tired of guys like you living off the government which I help fund. You are capable of working. Why the hell do you not work?

You don't pay taxes. Just stop.
And even if you did you're a Democrat. What the hell do you care which toilet the government flushes the money down??
OK well I just wish you were a little more entertaining since it is all an act on your part. I am going to enjoy the holiday. Happy Thanksgiving to you and all.
It is a fact that the US are a monumental outlier with respect to gun-related violence. Compared to other developed countries the US are not an outlier in terms of mental health and poverty level. It has also crime rates very comparable to other countries. The only very striking difference between the US and other countries is the number of guns available to the general population.
These are the facts.
How and if to act on the facts is a matter of political opinion.
Guns are a constitutional right in the US. Reducing the number of gun deaths would probably require repelling the 2nd amendment and a constitutional change cannot be taken lightly. As someone has pointed out, being shot is a relatively unlikely cause of death, in particular if you do not live in the wrong side of town (and there is not a gun in your household). So it is a very legitimate stance to maintain that 20000 deaths every year is an acceptable price to pay for the constitutional right to own guns.
Other people think that these are unnecessary deaths and that gun ownership should be restricted in some way to bring the number of guns to a level closer to that of other developed countries. If repelling the 2nd amendment is the only way to meaningfully restrict gun ownership, so be it.

Except the US isn't a "monumental outlier" when it comes to gun related violence.
The US is middle of the pack when it comes to gun related homicides despite having more guns per capita by a ridiculous amount than any of the 86 countries higher on the list.
Russia has like 1/15th the level of gun ownership the US does and almost double the gun murder rate.
Comparing the USA to highly educated, virtually racially homogenous countries is absurd.
If you look at the homicide rate for European Americans, it’s basically equal (a tiny bit higher) than Europe. Same thing for Asian Americans.
Homicide is basically confined to a small segment of the population. If you don’t count 12% of the population, the general homicide rate falls by more than half.
This will never end because of the 2nd Amendment. IF anyone cares about their fellow humans, the 2nd Amendment needs to be abolished. Hard truth for some of you.
Newsflash, right wingers have as much value for human life as antivaxxers do for vaccines. Besides, as long as these tragedies continue to happen, right wingers think they're owning the libs. Nothing supersedes owning the libs for right wingers. We will continue to see mass shootings as a result. Keep taking that sweet NRA blood money right wingers. We're waiting for your thoughts and prayers!

But, but, but...GUNS!
Good post. These facts will be ignored and The Agenda will be pushed.

One of the great failures of the American education system is that people like you finish school having no idea you're stupid.
Left wingers have aborted tens of millions of babies in the last 40 years.
If you want to play this game you will need about 300,000 years of mass shootings and COVID before you can pretend you care more about life.

This is a list of all intentional homicide rates, not only gun-related. Russia has about the same murder rate as the US; I could not find data about the gun murder rate in Russia. Regardless, I meant that the US is an outlier compared to countries that we would generally consider "developed" (in terms of GDP, having stable democratic institutions, reasonable level of corruption etc..). The US is also not an outlier in terms of education, compared to other developed countries. Your reply seems to suggest that the US cannot be compared to other developed countries because it is not "racially homogeneous". I admit that this is something I did not consider in my analysis, could you elaborate on this point?
If you restrict access then the 18-49yr old white male who tend to commit these acts will have a much harder time committing them. I don't see the typical mass shooter taking the effort to seek the black market. Your drug dealers and gang bangers probably will still find a way to get guns though.
Alan
Gang bangers and drug dealers aren't the ones committing mass shootings of this style. It's usually a caucasian. Nice try.
That's...exactly...what....I....said.....
It is also still easy for a gang banger or drug dealer to go to Walmart or Gun Show and grab a pistol.
Just did a quick check. Us homicide rate in 2021 is ~7 in 100K people. If homicides by blacks are removed (~56% of the total), we are left with a rate of 3-4 homicides out of 100K people. Still three times larger than the UK or Europe.
P.S. Note that also in other countries most of the crimes are usually committed by a small fraction of the population. if we were to do the same for the homicide rates of other countries (removing, for instance the poorest or least educated people or certain geographic areas), their rate would also decrease greatly and the difference with the US would be even larger.

The fact that it's all homicides makes your argument weaker.
Minorities commit a wildly disproportionate amount of the violent crime in the US.
13% of the population is African-American yet over 50% of the murderers are African-American.
This trend isn't unique to the USA.
When you compare the USA which has 50,000,000 African-Americans to any nation in Europe you're comparing apples to oranges.
Black people were over 3 times as likely to be arrested as white people. There were 29 arrests for every 1,000 black people and 9 for every 1,000 white people.
